I deliver pizzas for a living, and what the supervisor (the supervisor of my manager) wants to do this experiment. He wants to have a ton of drivers in the store so when a driver comes back from a delivery he or she would have to wait his or her turn, which would mean less $ per driver. He wants to do this so he would not have to hire anyone who wants to work inside only. The drivers would have to do the inside work when they are waiting.

I assume he is paying an hourly wage for the "inside work". The money the drivers are losing is the tip money? Can he legally do this? Probably. Might be some health issues, with the drivers in and out of the store, car, handling other items of questionable cleanliness. Call your heath department in your state. If your state has a labor board, you can check with them about this shared labor pool. Some of the more Union friendly states do not allow this kind of "job sharing"

Of course it is fair. The place is in business to make money. Period. You may feel cheated because the other guy gets the tip but actually all you have a right to expect is the minimum wage or seek other employment.

I work at a pizza place to and my boss runs his buisiness the same way, I just don't like the managers who make $10.00/hr delivering pizza, I hardly think it's fair.

It's not really a question of right or wrong. If the company makes more money because of it, then he did the right thing; otherwise, he'll stop doing it.

I think it is a stupid idea. I am sure the only reason for this idea is to generate more income for themselves in the long run. I would maybe look for another job.

If I were your boss and I found out you posted this question, I'd fire you on the spot for being dumb and lazy. They can manage their operation however they want, and it's none of your business.

If you don't like your job, quit.
