you have got to be the dumbest person in the world to keep those items in your car. You should always keep them in a secure place in your home in a fire proof lock box or in a safe deposit box at a bank.
There is nothing you can do now but monitor your credit report for suspicious activity like someone trying to order other credit cards in your name.

I went through a similar situation when my wallet was stolen at a bus station. It had everything in it, and I mean everything - right down to a copy of my birth certificate. Even worse, before I could make it to a stop to call my credit card companies to have them cancelled, they decided to fill up their gas tank and have a shopping spree at Circuit City on me. That's why I get so disgusted when shopping facilities don't ask for an ID to compare when someone pays for something (only I look like me), but I digress.

The first thing you'll need to have on hand is a birth certificate. Since mine was stolen with the wallet, I had to call my mother out-of-state to contact the board of health on my behalf. (Parents can legally do this). She sent it to me.

Then, go to the DMV with your birth certificate and a house bill in your name (or have your parents go with you to prove you live with them) to prove your state of residence to obtain another copy of your license.

After you get the picture ID, you can now get the social security card back.

I'm sure, like my wallet, that they were only after the car rather than your identity. But, it's scary just the same.

Best of luck

You filed a police document so that you will be coated later if something extra takes position. once you've any modern-day playing cards call them and likely fax them the document. No social signifies that you'll be able to't do something in regard to reporting to credit organizations at this aspect. you may want to pass to a modern-day or previous job as they might want to social on document. Tax go back, leasing contract and such could have it. i think in some unspecified time sooner or later your mothers and fathers claimed you on taxes. Now the delivery certificate might want to be received at a courthouse or on-line. the problem is this is genuinely no longer adequate. To get a clean identity you (supply it a try in spite of the undeniable fact that) choose identity. To get a clean social protection card you should have identity and a delivery certificate. It will change right into a round and round variety of element. I went by potential of this and change into banging my head about a thanks to variety it out. I received my delivery certificate and knew my social and it change into nevertheless a venture. What I did change into get a passport. I found out that with adequate "pocket muddle" and a relative filling out a kind certifying that you're who you're you'll get one. With that uber identity all change into wonderful. in case you hit a wall examine the State Dept. website for passports.

File an identity theft alert report on your SSN. This can be done here: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/idtheft//
Next time, don't leave your important things in your car. Take your driver's license and credit cards with you, because those are irreplaceable, but your SSN is your IDENTITY. You do not want it STOLEN.
