A person can be detained if there is probable cause. Then there will be a bond hearing, if the State's Attorney decides to file charges.

I'm going to assume the gun was found near you??
If so, then, yes you can be detained. Being detained is not an arrest, so there is no false imprisonment.
If you were arrested, then the other person came forward and admitted the gun was his, the charges would be dropped or dismissed. But this still does not rise to false imprisonment since there was probable cause that the gun was in your possession.

a cop can legally detain you for reasonable cause, which basically means if you look at one the wrong way....yes you can be arrested for possessing a firearm without a concealed weapons permit. Yes you can be arrested for possessing someone else's firearm that was used in a crime even if you have a CCW.
Sounds like there are other circumstances.....very vague question,.

Yes, you can be detained to allow the officers to investigate exactly what is going on.
Stop hanging around with those kinds of people if you don't want anymore run ins with law enforcement.

since there was a firearm present with the person who had no knowledge that makes EVERYONE around it a suspect, they can legally detain you, sry no million dollar lawsuit.
