My husband worked for 1.5 hours and then was rained out of a jobsite and sent home. Does the employer have to pay a min. of 4 hours for the day?? If there is a labor law that states that -- please give me a link. Thanks

The First amendment reads:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

That ensures a separation of Church and State. Thus, the government may not make laws about marriage if it is, as they insist, a "Sacred Institution."

I know that it's okay to u turn in California when there are no signs posted saying it's illegal to. But is it legal to u turn from the middle lane that breaks off ever so often from the main road to let cars turn left into a neighborhood or residential area? Maybe this is confusing, but I'm not talking about taking a u turn at an intersection with traffic lights or a stop sign. I ask this since I keep seeing Los Angeles police giving out tickets to minor infractions so I want to be safe in case I become a victim of something inane.

ok friiday night i slipped and fell on a patch of ice. it was black ice in a parking lot and my friend also fell right next to me you could not see it at all. i broke my leg and have to have surgery on fri and can not walk on it ie work for over 2 months. i did talk to a laywer who told me to try and work it out with the landlord first. i called them and told them i dont want to sue them for a big amount of money like some people would i am just interested in having my medical bills covered and lost wages bc i now have no way to pay my bills for over 2 months. she told me it was not their decesion that it was between my insurance company and their insurance company if i get any money for lost wages. she said my insurance would call me and ask if i wanted to do that. i have never heard of that before and i feel like i am getting the run around. i dont want to call and bother the laywer again bc he was nice enough to give me free advice in the 1st place. have u every heard of that?

A ban on the N-word? If I want to go down the street saying the N-word, F-word, B-word, or any other word, I have the right to say it. Banning the word, although it might come out of pure hate, violates freedom of speech...correct?

Personally I think if you can call hanging someone or using the electric chair inhumane, then you can call lethal injection and the gas chamber the exact same. If they want to be humane 'without' contradicting themselves, then I think they should just give the prisoners a bottle of pills and tell them to do it themselves within a certain time limit. 'Then', if the prisoners don't go on and end their misery, then the state or whatever can go ahead and kill them. By the way, it wouldn't be considered assisted suicide, 'cause the prisoners probably don't want to die in the first place.

I am 33 weeks pregnant, and my now ex bf disappeared when I was about 28 weeks. We broke up at this time and he kicked me out of the house that we were living in, and he didn't bother to give me any food to eat, he was negligent, irresponsible, and I generally think that he is incapable to be a father to my baby boy. I want to adopt the boy out when he is born, but my ex bf will not agree to adoption and he doesn't want any contact with me at all, but he told my best friend that if I don't want the baby then he and his mother will care for him. But if I am prepared to keep the baby then he doesn't want him. But I just don't trust him with my baby, even if he is the father. But he blames me for all that has been going on. He says that I didn't show that I loved him enough, and that I was immature. I know that for adoption that they need consent from both parents, but is there a legal way that I can adopt this baby boy out without the consent of his father, for the baby's sake?

A few year ago I ordered some diet pill off the internet. I know not very bright, in my order I included my address telephone and other information. I am still getting spam and pone call from at least a dozen other companies five years later. The company I made the order with has long gone out of business. I think Congress needs to do more to protect the public and the consumer. What do you think.

I've read in the news recently that Bobby Brown (a famous singer from 1980's) has been jailed for not being able to pay $5,500 per month child support payments. And he has been ordered to stay in jail until he or someone else pays the $22,000 he owes now.

I've never heard of people going to jail for non-payment of any other kinds of debt. Usually, people's bank accounts and property can be siezed and their wages can be garnisheed to pay for debts. But going to jail seem a little extreme to me. How can a guy get money while he is in jail?

Can't this guy just declare bankrupcy and get it over with?
