I'm looking for snake/lizard that is relatively easy to care for and basically good for begginers, but doesn't live more than 7 years (I'm looking for a short-term commitment) prefferably around 3. Thanks.

We have two red eye slider turtles who are the same age. They used to be the same size but one has grown and the other has not. They were just given to us by a friend of a friend. I am not sure what kind of care they were given. We have two turtles of our own in a separate dwelling from the new arrivals and they are very healthy and happy. I am concerned because the larger of the two new ones is three times the size of the tiny one. I have not seen the tiny one eat yet but we did just change their living space. Can someone please help me?

my gecko is a baby and I cant handle it yet so I cant see if its a male or female, but when I feed it, it shakes its tail right before it attacks. Do female geckos shake their tails like that or does this mean I have a male gecko

Why ask a question if your not going to listen to the answer? I've been trying to help Yvonne with her Iguana and she REFUSES to listen to what I have to say. I know a lot about Igs if she would just listen she would realize that. So my question is if you aren't going to listen to the people answering your questions then why ask?

i know that almost all turtles carry Salmonella, but it only affects humans if it is injected through the mouth, for example, touching a turtle, then eating right away without washing yr hands. BUT** i wanted to know that if you touch a turtle, wash your hands with soap, THEN eat with yr hands, is that ok? or is just washing hands not good enough to clean Salmonella off???

and please just answer if you actually know the answer please/

I recenlt bought two very small red eared sliders from the flea market. They are super cute and are doing very well. I was wondering what kind of things they like to eat besides pellets. Also, what are some good things to know about the care of red eared sliders?
I tried to ask some questions at PetsMart and all the guy wanted to do was sell me things I had already purchased :(

Ok.. I got a leopard gecko last year when it was little.. The petstore didn't know if it was a girl or a boy so I just got one. Later when it was allmost full size I got him/her a friend on a website.. I got a girl.. She was smaller then my older one. So I heard that you shouldn't put them together if they are different size.. Right now my older one is full size and my smaller one is almost caught up... Should I put them together???! I had gotten a long 20 Gallon tank for them!! What should I do???

I recently got a tort in December. When we first got her she was very active and ate daily. About a month ago she stopped eating. Sandee is still very active, and drinks, and has regular soaks daily... she just wont eat. We even got her a larger enclosure thinking that she may be stressed due to the lack of space to explore. She loves the new space, spends most of her day wandering, and climbing on her log and rocks. Often she will come to the side of the tank and great us. Her temperatures are set at 95 degrees under her basking light, and the rest of her enclosure is kept at room temperature, about 70 degrees. Is it possible that the substrate isn't getting warm enough, and it has slowed her digestion? How long can they go without eating? Her fecal matter was tested and she didn't have any worms or parasites... also, her eyes are bright.... Does anyone have any ideas for me? I would appreciate any suggestions!!!

We've never had one in the family so we're not sure if there is something important that we shouldn't do. Or have to do. It was a gift from her grandma for her 6th birthday. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Obviously she knows to keep the aquarium closed and not stick her fingers in there.

I'm hearing different recommendations: some say he's supposed to be bathed with a spray water daily while others claim this is not necessary.
They're desert animals so I'm assuming they don't need a spray wash.
