My red-eared slider has recently started basking with his head laying out on his rock instead of pulled in. He's only started doing this fairly recently, and it kind of looks like he's dead when he does it. Is this normal, or might he be sick or something? He still has a really big appetite and moves around quite a bit.

The weather is getting hot and humid, and gekkos often come and climb on the walls and all over the yard. I know they are not scary, but i could live without them. Can barely get out of the front door if I see even one of them. Would a cat or dog help to keep them away?

I just pulled 3 ticks off my 2 year old female ball python. Very disappointing considering I keep her cage very clean and that I just bought her from a breeder. Anyway, these 3 were all I could see, and I presume these aren't the last of them. I checked my other ball python who lives in the cage underneath and she doesn't seem to have any ticks. Is there some kind of treatment that I should be applying to either the cage or the snakes to permanently remove any ticks or traces of ticks?

Thanks!

I just purchased a leopard gecko for my son. However, now I'm concerned he may get salmonella from handling the gecko. Is this common, should we just return the gecko lizard? I'm afraid the whole family may get infected with salmonella or some other virus.

Okay, so recently i had bought a RES in one of those little tanks from this guy who was selling them on the streets. I want to know if I could feed it other protein BESIDES live crickets. Can fish be replaced for crickets, and worms? and how often do you feed them fish? and how often do you feed them pellets? If anyone keeps their turtles outside, what are the materials you need, and do they ever get in danger of all the other things out there?

I appreciate it.

I live in South Mississippi. The snake was a blueish-grayish color on the belly and dark gray on the back. The head was rounded. It was about 2 1/2 feet long.
