Okay, so recently i had bought a RES in one of those little tanks from this guy who was selling them on the streets. I want to know if I could feed it other protein BESIDES live crickets. Can fish be replaced for crickets, and worms? and how often do you feed them fish? and how often do you feed them pellets? If anyone keeps their turtles outside, what are the materials you need, and do they ever get in danger of all the other things out there?

I appreciate it.

Looked on the portraits. Very colourful and really quality shell sample. Definitley no longer a pink eared slider. Probably a chook turtle. Either means, take care of it as though it was once a slider. Make definite to provide it a basking lamp (warmth lamp) and a UVB fluorescent bulb. Also a heater for the water too...

I have two 9 month old RES. I got them knowing little info. You can go on line to see the types of veggies/fruits you can feed them. You can feed the pelets to them once a day if they are babies and once every other day if adults. I wouldnt keep my turtles outside just because of the weather, I love mine to much! You can keep the (SMALL) fish in the tank with the turtles, the RES will eat them when ever they feel like it! Just make sure hte fish are small cas if to big, the turtle will make it suffure by slowly eating it peice by peice! Good LUck
ps..get a bigger tank for your turtles sake, he is crammed

Mine loves bloodworms....but also digs tuna, shrimp, cooked chicken and salmon. He doesn't really mess with pellets or veggies yet but I hear that changes when they get older. Calcium powder is a good additive for food as well. Live fish are great but mine usally chases them a little and gives up.....As for outside set-ups read up on houseing care tips. Austins turtle page is great site. But really look into getting him out of that bowl. He's gonna need clean water, uvb light, a nice warm tempurature and more space to stay healthy.

I hate to do this, but rather than writing out ALL the things you are going to need to know (like, getting rid of the 'little tank'), I'm just going to point you to two good websites:
