I found a snake outside today. How can I find out what kind it was?

I live in South Mississippi. The snake was a blueish-grayish color on the belly and dark gray on the back. The head was rounded. It was about 2 1/2 feet long.

The Eastern Garter Snake also has a blue color variation.
The blue variation of the Eastern Garter is not the same as the Bluestripe Garter Thamnophis sirtalis similis.
