don't worry at all both my snakes just went through a spell of not eating for well one didn't eat for 4 months and the other didn't eat for about 2! they finally ate two weeks ago. it's because of the weather *I'm told*. but also my ball won't eat at all the week before and after he sheds. I would give your little guy another week and if he doesn't eat just wait two feeding cycles and try again. I know how you feel spending all that money on rats and stuff it sux when they don't eat. One of mine eats a large rat every week and my other one eats 2 small every week. That's $$$. but like I said I wouldn't worry ... if you have any questions email me.

Corn Snake Not Eating

I wouldn't worry too much, snakes eat when they want to, in the wild they only eat when they find food. As long as the snake seems healthy he should be OK. snakes tend not to eat just before they shed so give it a day or so and try again but don't worry if he doesn't seem interested just yet!

I would not be worried at all, snakes can go for a couple of months without food. Around shedding time (before and after) there a little temper mental when it comes to eating. If he still has not eaten in another week or two call your vet.

snakes eat when they feel like it! my corn snake stops eating through the winter for about 8 or 9 weeks! T he first time he did it we were really worried but now we are used to it, he does it every year. W e now have two king snakes that occasionally show no interest in their food, but as long as you know they are healthy and active then I just keep offering it until they take it. We want a boa next, fabulous pets aren't they?

try not to worry to much research has shown that corns and other snakes can go extremely long without eating for no apparent reason my female corn will not eat when she is trying to hibernate, or as you say preparing to shed try leaving yours another week and try again you may be surprised but please don't worry mine has gone over a month before and then ate like a pig.

Dont worrry your snake should be fine. Shedding causes them to be irritable and all. They eat when they are hungry trust me. I put a mouse in mines tank last night and it stubbornly waited 8 1/2 hours before it ate it.

We only feed ours about once every 2 weeks, when they shed their skin they can be quite irritable, mostly before cos the skin can make their eyes go cloudy which affects their sight. If they are quite big try them with baby rats instead of small mice, they will be fuller for longer, and avoid handling when they've just eaten or shed.

i love snakes. im handling my little guy right now. one way to get them to eat is to "brain" the mouse, that is, to cut the very tip off it's head to expose the brain, the snake smells the blood and sometimes it will work to get a stubborn snake to eat.
