Why ask a question if your not going to listen to the answer? I've been trying to help Yvonne with her Iguana and she REFUSES to listen to what I have to say. I know a lot about Igs if she would just listen she would realize that. So my question is if you aren't going to listen to the people answering your questions then why ask?

Yyvonne's Ig has an injuried leg from being in a tank with another Ig and she doesn't feed them the proper food so I answered 3 of her question and it's bothering me that she doesn't want to help her Igs. I hate to see reptiles get hurt and that's why I try and help but it kills me when I know people are mistreating them and there's nothing I can do.

I know she's not listening because on one of her question she said she had a splint on the leg and I told her to take it off and a few days later she asked another question stating she still had the splint on.

And when I gave her a list of food she told me that she said "I feed all of my igs spring mix with calcium spray".

I also told her if she really wanted my help to e-mail me and she didn't.

I do think she listened to one thing me and a few other people said. I think she did seperate them.

Quite often people search for an answer that they want to hear and not necessarily what is right or what they need to hear. It's frustrating to be sure, but I try not to let it bother me and hope that they get a clue before their animal ends up dead or has to suffer needlessly.

Edit: I've seen this type of behavior many times. People want to hear confirmation of something *they* think might be the right way or cheap way to do something. For example, may people will tell me that their snake is showing signs of an upper repiratory infection and instead of taking my advice to see a vet for antibiotics, they wait until someone tells them to just bump the temps and that should be enough. Unfortunately there's not much you can do in these situations.

Thats how people are. "its lived this long, its going to live longer!" And changing everything is 'work' and god forbid anyone do real WORK for animals.

I live with my mom(I'm graduating HS and going to college in fall) and she does the same thing. She has 4 young oscars(fish) in a 90gal tank. They are going to outgrow that in about two years but she wont listen. Theres also a pleco, a pictus cat, a blood parrot chilchid, and a koi in there! But she wont listen when you tell her thats too many fish and they're not all compatible.

I know what you mean, and I guess you do just have to accept it. Personally I think you should pass an exam and test before being allowed any exotic species. Its the right thing to do.

She clearly doesn't want to spend the money to buy another tank, and prepare fresh greens for the igs. Which is very unfortunate.

Yes , it is sad when you get to know how precious iguanas are then to see someone not taking care of it.

I had a male iguana when i lived in Garden Grove , California but we donated it a trained wildlife expert so she could take care of it and get it a new home when we moved.
