We have two red eye slider turtles who are the same age. They used to be the same size but one has grown and the other has not. They were just given to us by a friend of a friend. I am not sure what kind of care they were given. We have two turtles of our own in a separate dwelling from the new arrivals and they are very healthy and happy. I am concerned because the larger of the two new ones is three times the size of the tiny one. I have not seen the tiny one eat yet but we did just change their living space. Can someone please help me?

Make sure they're both getting food -- sometimes one can get all the food. Also, girls are bigger than boys, and they will I believe grow to the size of the tank -- though that could stint their growth so best thing is to let them grow full size in a large tank so they live a full, healthy life.

You don't know what care your new turtles had been given before arriving to your home. Maybe that the small turtle had been terrorized by the big turtle all the time, ate little, hiding somewhere all the time. Try to separate the two giving the little one some privacy.

I had the same thing with one of my RES all the other turtles grew but it did not, I tried changing diet, putting it in a seperate tank etc, and nothing worked, he wouldn't grow. He still lived a happy healthy life however, so I wouldn't worry.

There are a number of reasons it might not grow, it could be stressed, under heated, it might not have enough humidity, it could be in an enclosure that is too small to support it if it grows any larger, it might not like the food you are giving it, it might want a diet that is varied...think about it, would you want to eat the same thing every day of your life? I hope this is of some help to you.

Well the little one might feel intimidated and not eat. Do you have the prober set-up? UV A+B is MaJoR. Without Uv lighting they wont grow. THe will also het MBD and die!!!! Hmmm red-eared slidders need a large tank. I don't know much about turtles.
