Wherever you keep your turtle, you should look for more babies, or eggs...carefully. If you find eggs, do not move them, just set something up around them to secure them from harm until you can determine if they are viable. Keep them warm and humid, but not wet. Turtles don't just lay babies. This little one got lucky, as it is likely all it's siblings died because you didn't know their were eggs.

Baby turtles are not something for a beginner to tackle. They are fragile and require special care that is hard for the inexperienced to give, because they are so small. If something goes wrong with them you must have skill and equipment to make sure they don't die, and most baby turtles will die in inexperienced hands. I would urge you to seek a box turtle / reptile rescue in your local area ( you can contact them through Petco and/or petfinder.com ), or a regional rescue such as the gulf coast turtle and tortoise conservation society.

Believe me, no offense, but you don't have the experience and it's little life depends on someone with the skill and gear to care for it, until it is large enough to be more easily cared for. For these reasons respectable rescues and turtle/tortoise breeders will not adopt out neonate or small juvenile turtles to inexperienced persons. This is not for legal or salmonella reasons, but because baby turtles are too fragile.

For the time being though, baby box turtles are highly carnivorous. The most suitable prey items are small redworms ( available at Petco or baitshops ), or pinhead crickets.

Turtles aren't born,they are hatched.
Feed the baby turtle things like worms, small crickets, small bugs etc.
Providing water is essential to any turtle.
Small type veggies are good. Corn, peas, lettuce and fresh spinach.
You might check with Pet Smart/Pet Co as they may have a nutrionally fit feed for small turtles.

What do you feed mom? I know that snappers will eat raw hamburger. I'm not so sure about a box turtle. They make it in the wild, so mom might know what to do. Give her extra food and see what she does.
