Fish - November 2007

My tank is quite small, it could fit about 2, 3,4 or even 5 fish if im lucky... i cant spend too much and i want nice coldwater fish, not too boring. Do any of your suggestions need a filter? If i have to, ill buy one....

I would like a type of fish that can live great in amll - medium groups of five or six or so and are virtually easy to care for. I DO NOT want to pay an arm and a leg for my fish though! :)

I have had three fish, for a year, and a while ago one of my fish doed (Bob) and yesterday my other fish died (Dave) so now I only have one fish left, and I'm worried he is lonely so we are going to buy another fish today.

Will my only fish which is left beat up the other fish? Should I get the same breed?
My fish which is left is a gold fish (it's brown though) but I was thinking of getting a googley eyed one (Sorry, I don't know the proper name).

Any opinions?

ok i have 3 tetras and a betta in a ten gallon. Today i got an elite stingray 10 filter for it. From the top water comes out which vibrates the water which makes it harder for the fish to move. Is this the wrong filter can i turn it off, or will it turn off by itself thx

I need information specific about this type. I currently have 25 gallon tank it "haxone around" I have right now. Two red parrot fish I, just add today. My tank has been running for 2 years with any problems. I have large fliter, heater it at 78 about. I have a large bala shark 2 1/2,small kissing gourmai "he one 2 yrs old and friendly gourmai "it orange with spotts. My fish don't have any diease or illense. I have lot of plants a large rock for hidding and blue grave. Any information is greatly come. I plan to upgrade to bigger tank. Hanox only. I don't have space for the large that are like box shape. It need to be around. So if you have idea to find nice tank live the link thank you.

I'm not sure if it depends on the type of goldfishes, but the ones I'm trying to find out are the common goldfishes. I'm pretty sure it is the common goldfish.

ok i won 2 feeder goldfish in the school carnival yesterday then i went out and bought them a 1 gallon tank but i realized they were a little to big for a 1 gallon tank so i looked threw all my storage and found a 10 gallon tank but heres the thing can the filter from the 1 gallon tank work just as well for the 10 gallon tank

Currently I have 2 female Veil Betta, 5 male Veil Bettas and 1 Crowntail Betta. My opal/pink female is ready to spawn, however, the only one of my males who has a bubble nest going happens to be my blue Crowntail. I haven't come across anything on the web pertaining to breeding different types of Bettas. Is it like breeding different types of dogs where I'll end up with some type of "mut"? Or is this something that just isn't done?

When I was cleaning out there singule tank, one red betta fish and one colorful betta fish were kissing, then I seperated them and then I took my net and touched them while they were kissing again and then they sticked to the net! (WEIRD) one of is a boy which is the colorful one and and the red one is the female!

I have a 15 gallon with two convicts in it, they will be moving to a 55 gallon soon wlel a month or so but thir tank now has 2 incandecent bulbs in it i was wondering can i got to he pet store and buy two florecent bulbs to fit the sockets and pout them in i heard it brings out the color and i dont care about algea if its noit bad for the fish i can just leave it or whipe it off with my algea sponge.

I had a salt water tank that has been up and running for the last year. I had 20lbs of live rock when I started, the problem is my PH always fell to 7.8. After talking to the guide in my local pet shop I added 55lbs of live rock to my 46 gallon tank. My ammonia is now .50, the nitrite is 1.0, and the nitrate is 10. By the way, I also have 60lbs of live sand.

My betta fish is acting weird. It won't eat the pellets and just smells them and backs away from them. the color of the fish is also turning faded. i am housing him in an average goldfish size bowl. also the fish has been just staring straight forward and staying at the top of the bowl. i even put a mirror up to the side of the bowl, which he should react to and he didn't react at all. hes just mopping around all day and i want to know whats wrong with him. please help.

my local fish store where i ussually get my RO water for topp offs on my saltwater tank went out of business and i have no idea of where to get RO water now.
is there any way i can turn freshwater from my tapp into RO water?
will it hurt my fish if i use the tapp water if treated with chorline removers?

can i use bottled water?

I got 20lbs of fiji premium cured live rock. After adding them to my new tank i noticed some dying of the red/green little rocks in it... I know the dying is normal, but is there a way to recover the green/ red color asap?.. Like adding chemicals, lighting (best lighting)..
