i already asked this question but 2 people only answered it. i have a 5 gallon tank with two platys and two other small fish. i got them about 2 months ago. One of them hides in the corner all day and looks a little bigger than usual. But it could just be normally growing. but i know somthing wrong with it because it always used to swim around and now it just hides behind the plant. is it pregnant, sick, or is somthing else wrong with it. thanks!

Eggs where relocated by female. Male keeps getting chased and picked on by female. Im afraid he might not make it if this keeps going on. He looks and acts scared. Male will not defend himself. Stays in one corner of tank. She still comes out of cave to chase him around. Added 2 small guppies to try to distract female, not much help. He will not chase guppies either, just stays in corner. Help.

They spawned, its been 4-5 days no fry. Eggs just relocated by female today and hidden under driftwood cave she made. Male stays in one location and is constantly being chased by female. Should I remove him? They are in a 30 gallon tank.

I had a five gallon tank that had 3 guppies, 2 neon tetras 1 serpae tetra & a swordtail male along with a cat fish. I felt it was crowded but i kept my tank up well and never had stressful water.
Now that i have the 12 gallon, i have read that i can have 8 -16 fish depending on what a choose. I would like to add one more guppy so 4 guppies total. I would also like to have two groups of 4 tetras so i will have 4 neons and 4 of another tetra of simlar size to go along with the current fish that I have ( the swordtail & serpae & catfish.) So15 fish total would be in the 12 gallon. What do you think too many fish or okay?

My 14 yrs old daughter has a 10 gallon fish tank. We had 2 black moor and one fancy tail gold fish. We help her keep it clean and she had these three fish for a year and 3 months. I recently brought a Hypostomus plecostomus to help keep the tank clean because she love to keep the light on to watch the fish and it get tons of algae. Well a week after I introduce the sucker fish all three fish died. Their fin started to shred and they grew white fungus all over their bodies. They also had red spots on their bellies. I think they got fin rot. I want to what went wrong. I am sad to think I killed her fish!! I tried Melafix but it didn't work. The sucker fish was fine. Can you please tell me how to keep this from happening again? I have picture if you need to see what they looked like. Thanks Mother of a heart broken daughter.

Okay my fiancee and I just purchased a 55gallon tank stand etc. for a saltwater aquarium. We want to have fish and invertebrates no live corals. We're not ready to tackle live corals yet. We would like to have sand as we want to have gobys, and other fish of that nature. Is it possible to have sand and to also use an undergravel/sand filter? What kind of sand do we need to have? Were getting a couple of pieces of "live rock" to help with getting the tank cycled, so do we really need "live sand"? We have a big duel biowheel filter and we'll have two power heads as well. Being experiencecd in fresh water I really like undergravel.

Thanks in advance for all the help and information! :)

The 2 fish have been living together for about a day now. We fed them twice and after the 2nd one (evening feeding) they have kept going as if they want to eat more food and open and close their mouths, sometime making a lil noise with bubbles forming. Any idea what this means? My room mate and I are clueless

A few weeks ago I got a fish that had ich. I removed him from the tank and started treating him, but i think the ich spread to the main tank. I bought some ich treatment that said it was reef safe so I am going to add that, but should I stop adding the additives for corals while I am treating my tank?
