I purchased a 150 gallon aquarium for 20$ It has a crack in the bottom. I've read up on how to reseal it, but the problem is replacing the glass. It has a steel plate on the bottom for support. I don't know how hard it's going to be to replace with that steel plate in the way. Is it possible to just put a thicker peice of glass on top of the cracked one and seal it there?

What would a vegetarian starfish eat? I know they eat algae, and ditrious, but i'm not really sure what ditrious is... Could a regular random starfish only eat algae and survive?

I have a 10 gallon tank with an AquaClear filter...only to discover that the lid I had originally purchased will not fit since the filter hangs on the edge. Does anyone know of a lid I could buy somewhere that is either wide enough to go over the filter, or that has a "hole" of sorts for it to sit nicely? A brand name or link would be nice :)

I figure I'd search for lids first rather than pay for a new filter...

And: I need the lid because the fish I'm going to put into it soon are known jumpers...I don't want my new babies escaping :)

decided to save some of the feeder comet goldfish from the jaws of my reptiles. I used tap water for their enclosure (they like ph?). I heard they love cold water so i check the water is about 65f. i put in some hides and i have a bubbler. i don't know what im doing wrong but they seem to go up for air and slowly drop to the ground and repeat. why is that? lack of oxygen in the water or going room temp water to 65's? what should i feed them if they survive?

I fancy a small dogfish or catfish.. but can u get small ones that don't grow enormous.. at the moment I have a 6.1 gallon tank / about 30 litres tank. My tank is small but i'd only have it in with plants by itself.

I've heard a lot about it.

Would it benefit my fish? (2 mollies (planning to get another as one just died), 3 cory catfish in a 28L aquastart 320 tank)

I take it it's not just table salt either?

I'm getting a minor ant invasion in my house so each time I get rid of the ants I feed the ants to my goldfish. Pretty much because I always accidentally put too much fish food in and the water clouds up. I also heard that if fish eats bugs it'll help them grow so will feeding them ants help them grow? Will feeding ants to the fish do any harm to them?
I've grown some tomatoes, cucumbers, and beans and the roots are coming out of the bottom so I'm going to let the roots soak up the nutrient rich water. Will the roots being in the water hurt the fish in anyway shape for form?

Is this normal? i just bought my goldfish yesturday morning (7 fantails 3 black morres).. they were fine swimming aroud peacefully, i fed them last night goldfish pellets they werent to excited took them a while to realise their was food, the foods all gone so im guessing they ate it all, but this morning theyve been swimming around like crazy - they are all the same size pretty much and i have big castle in their aswell which they can hide in. is it normal for them to be swimming around really fast??

also i have a fluroscent light in my tank, is this bad for them to keep on for a long time? i no that they get scared even when i turn my room light on n swim into the castle to hide.. so is it beta to keep it off? do it bother them?

I have a 10 gallon tank with 3 rosy barbs and two tiger barbs. my tank has been set up for almost five months. There is an irritating green algae problem. I was wondering if there are any good algae eating fish I could get that wouldn't outgrow the small tank. My barbs aren't going to get any bigger than their current size. There is plenty of room for an algae eating fish if needed.
any advice?

I have 2 mollies, and 3 cory catfish. I currently feed them on tropical flakes and sinking catfish pellets, but what else can I feed them?

I mean vegetables etc.

What vegetables can I feed them?

And in regard to frozen bloodworms etc...how do you feed these? Open a block and put it in, or defrost it first?

Thanks!

I have just purchased some platies and they were in the same tank together when I bought them. What I was wondering is why aren't they schooling? I read in a book and several people told me that they are a highly schooling fish. Please Help.
