I have a 10 gallon tank with an AquaClear filter...only to discover that the lid I had originally purchased will not fit since the filter hangs on the edge. Does anyone know of a lid I could buy somewhere that is either wide enough to go over the filter, or that has a "hole" of sorts for it to sit nicely? A brand name or link would be nice :)

I figure I'd search for lids first rather than pay for a new filter...

And: I need the lid because the fish I'm going to put into it soon are known jumpers...I don't want my new babies escaping :)

Most full covers have areas on the back that can be cut out to fit a filter. You can see the sections that can be cut or popped out along the lower right section of the hood in this photo: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=13447&Ntt=hood&Ntk=All&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Np=1&pc=1&N=0&Nty=1

Another option for you would be to use an internal submersible filter with the full hood left intact and the power cord run out of the tank close to a corner.
If your's isn't like this, you can find glass covers with a soft plastic piece in the back that can be cut: http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/group/10950/product.web

The second type will give you more control over the amount of cover that's removed so the fish have less space where they can escape.

For a 10 gallon just go to the local hardware or lighting store and buy a thin plastic florescent lighting panel. This is the type you see in offices everywhere. The Greater Chicago Cichlid Association GCCA is a great club and their how to section had instructions on how to do this at http://gcca.net/howto/tank_covers.htm you can also buy plexiglass though that's more diffilcult and expensive.

I personally would get rid of the filter. You need a Bio Wheel. If you must keep the one you have Pet Co has a wide variety of lids, and most you can cut out certain places in order to fit the accessories you have.
