I have just purchased some platies and they were in the same tank together when I bought them. What I was wondering is why aren't they schooling? I read in a book and several people told me that they are a highly schooling fish. Please Help.

did you purchase more than 3 ? generally they wont " school" without more than 3. How long have you have them, what size tank do you have..
If you want a really good school fish you should go with a tetra family fish.. .( I like neons or tiger)

They don't always school. All of my fish that 'are supposed' to school don't always. They will at certain times, but not a lot. I see this in my swordtails, tetras, and rainbowfish. So, they might school, but not much if they do.
