Go to your local pet store and get what is called a gravel syphener it hooks up to your kitchen or bathroom sink and works great and fast and less mess I have a125 gal tank, there should be instructions with it if not e-mail me and I will tell you how to use it. You will also need to purchase stess coat when changing your water your fish can easily get stressed and die this will prevent it from happening, the gravel syphener is so much easier and practically NO MESS it will take out dirt no fish and refill your tank!!!

That would vary with the cause of the reason it's not clean now.
If it's a new tank, did you wash the gravel before you put it in the tank? It may have had dust particles attached to the rocks. Also, in a new tank some cloudiness is natural. The wastes of your fish are converted to less harmful substances by bacteria, but if the tank was just set up, there aren't many bacteria in it yet. So the ones that are there are multiplying rapidy to take advantage of the abundant food source. Once all the ammonia and nitrite from the fish wastes are converted entirely to nitrate, the reproduction will slow down and the water will clear on its own.
If you don't do frequent (or large) enough water changes on an established tank, this will also make the water look dirty, as will new driftwood or dying live plants which will leach material into the water.
Solutions to the ones which are problems are listed here: http://www.fishlore.com/CloudyWater.htm

I use a gravel syphon that I clean the gravel with every couple of weeks......this is usually when I clean the filter aswell.....but I can leave that for once a month. Don't over feed your fish!!! this will foul up the water quicker than anything coz even if they are eating all the food it has to come back out sometime....and the more that goes in the more that comes out.
Sometimes I also use a few drops of the aqua clear that I bought at the petshop....it clears the tank but also kills the live plants if you over do it so you have to be careful with it.
But I would suggest that if you are having trouble keeping your water clear to just feed your fish less or cut out one of their daily feeds.

you need to tip the water out of the fish tank. Get a bowl and fill it up with water to put the fish in and put clean water back in the tank.
DO NOT TOUCH THE FISH though :D
