Fish tanks are thicker, stronger, and sealed tighter against water. They also come with a hood-type lid instead of a screen lid. Most reptile tanks are not approved to hold a full load of water and may crack under the pressure.

Fish tanks are almost full of water, and require pumps, filters, etc.
Reptile tanks generally have a small amount of water in one area, but the rest of the tank is dry. Reptiles need branches to climb on and rocks to hide under, and require a heat lamp over one area for them to regulate their body temperature.
The actual tank you use can be a fish tank for either fish or reptiles - the difference is in what's in the tank.

I would agree with Madkins007on this one. You see the same thing with many common products marketed to reptile keepers. Stick a picture of an iguana on the bag of mulch or incandescent bulb and charge twice as much. Tanks that are made to specifically be aquariums are often more expensive then the same size designed for terrarium use because of the much thicker glass required to withstand the water pressure.

Reptile tank can take the heat from the heating lamp... a fish tank is made to hold water and might be a bit thicker...

there is no difference between our fish tank and turtle tank at all. They both have lighting, filters and gravel. But if your thinking of a land reptile, then you would need a fine sand in instead of gravel and a stronger light. Good Luck!

Well a reptile is a cold blooded creature and a fish tank is an inanimate object.
Hope this helps.

I don't think there's a difference. Although they could market them differently to get you to buy a reptile tank when you may have like 4 fish tanks in your basement! You have to add heat lamps to the lighting, and a screen top instead of a filter and black lift top. That's about it! add lizard!!
