Currently I have 2 female Veil Betta, 5 male Veil Bettas and 1 Crowntail Betta. My opal/pink female is ready to spawn, however, the only one of my males who has a bubble nest going happens to be my blue Crowntail. I haven't come across anything on the web pertaining to breeding different types of Bettas. Is it like breeding different types of dogs where I'll end up with some type of "mut"? Or is this something that just isn't done?

It is exactly like breeding different types of dogs. If you breed the Crowntail with the Veiltail, there's really no telling what would come out (but it would not be a good looking fish)... You would be better off just waiting until one of your male Veils builds a bubble nest. Are you conditioning them with meaty foods like bloodworms? That will usually encourage a bubble nest.

Sounds ok to me since a Betta is a Betta right but remember to remove the one that will eat all the babies forget if it is the mom or daddy fish? might be both?
I would do a web search to a Betta breeder to ask really just to make sure..

whatever u do they are going to be considered mutts.

wHY? because unless your bettas are show bettas then they are mutts.

ANYWAY, yes it is fine. They arent diffferent species, a betta splenden is a betta splenden and mixing tails happens all of the time.

Ex. i cross my HM lines to my plakat lines to make HMPKs.

Make sure you heavily research breeding before you do it. You will need to invest a few hundreds and buy a 10 and 55 gallon tank for breeding.
