What is this? Only some of my guppies have it. Can it be cured? What can I do to prevent it?

Causes for a curved spine can vary from congenital defect, nutritional deficiency (which should affect all equally, unless the fish in question has a problem with absorbing specific nutrients, but this should show up early in it's life). There's also Pleistophora (also called "neon tetra disease", but fish other than neons can get it), fish tuberculosis (which can be transmitted to humans), and camallanus (an internal parasite, which you can sometimes see sticking out the anus of the fish when they are at rest in the water - see photos: http://www.gaem.it/pubblico/articoli/malattiepesci/camallanus/camallanus03.jpg , http://www.alaquairum.net/imagenes/Camallanus1.jpg - the smoothness and pointed tip will distinguish this from "poop".

I'll put some links below where you can get info on these and treatments (if any):

http://www.fish-disease.net/diseases.htm
http://www.inkmkr.com/Fish/CamellanusTreatment.pdf
The Levamisol treatment isn't available in all counties (and you have to get it though a farm supply or veterinarian), so this is an optional treatment: http://www.petfish.net/articles/Diseases/Camallanus.php

And once you freeze a fish, it dies. It won't come back unless it's one of a number of polar marine species which naturally produce an antifreeze in their blood (and a guppy isn't one of these).

sure, in many circumstances a hump or bump in a guppy's backbone shows that lots of her lines contain inbreeding of her ancestors. on condition that she would manage to no longer drop, you're able to desire to go away her on my own and attempt to no longer reason her rigidity, and don't kill her. she would manage to provide delivery quickly, it may desire to no longer be time.

freezing a fish will kill it, i was told it was the humane way to put a suffering fish down but i couldn't do it.
