I have four goldfish and one of those sucker fish. I have little flat pellets for the sucker to eat and I put them in there and the goldfish start nipping at them. The goldfish aren't starving by any means. They are just fat and gluttons! Is it bad for the goldfish to eat them? what should I do so they will stop??

My fish died today - had it for 1 year and 8 months!! My question is I don't know how it died?? The body was inflamed - by inflamed I mean the scales were coming out of it's body and the body was swollen...my fish couldn't eat cause the mouth wouldn't close and it stood in an upright position....It wouldn't move a lot either and when it went up for air and such it took a long time to get up there. After it got air it quickly sunk by down and continued to stand in an upright position....The morning I found it lying on the rocks at the bottom of the tank....

Don't fish float when they die?? What the hell happened to my fish?? Disease?? I don't understand it?? ARGH!!

I need help. I have two 55-gallon aquariums. One has plants in it but they are all low light plants and they are doing well. The other 55 is not even running yet but I would like to make another planted aquarium out of it. The problem is that it only has two 15-Watt bulbs for the lighting and I am wanting to go with some of the medium to high light plants in this aquarium. What should I DO, BUY, or MAKE??? Could I also have the estimated costs as well.

Thanks

I got a betta fish around a month ago. I clean his bowl at least once a week and I feed him everyday. His bowl (or her I dont know its gender) is big enough for him to swim around and be happy. There is even a little shell where he could hide in. But all he does his stay in one spot each day like a lazy bum. (hehe I called my fish a lazy bum) I've heard Betta fish to be active and wild and fun and wagging their long flowy tails when they see you but my Betta is being weird. His gills thingies (I dont know what they are called) flare a lot and it makes him look like he has a lion mane. (hehe) His two little front fins are split. I am doing everything I can for my fishy, so why is my betta fish like that?

We have a problem at work with our tanks pH. It is higher than 8.4. Every time pH down is added, it does nothing as the alkalinity if off the charts as well. The water is also very hard. However, the pH of the tap water is 7.2, so I don't know why it keeps going so high.

I was looking at the acid buffer made by Seachem. It converts carbonate alkalinity into available CO2. Since there re no plants, will it hurt the fish (We can't add plants to it)? Or will the CO2 dissipate quickly with the power heads in all the tanks? The tank is 220 gallons, divided into 18 tanks (11 gallons each) with a power head, and a 20 gallon sump.

What do you think?

Here's the deal:
We have four koi in a 55gal tank. One of the koi started losing his colour and stopped eating. For about a week he was at the top looking like he needed air, so we started airating the tank more, but his condition didn't improve. When he did eat he would spit out every other piece and started convulsing. About a week later all of the koi started gasping at the top. So I changed the water and left out the chemical treatment and all of the koi stop the gasping. The sick koi started getting better for another week, but after that he just stayed at the bottom of the tank and only swam to get food. He was gaining weight and looking better, but then I walked down one morning and he was dead. Should I be worried about the other 3 koi catching what he did?

I'm going to how they say...condition them. I have the pairs in 2 seperate 2 1/2 gall. tanks and want to feed them the best food to assure they'll breed in about a week or two in their already set up 10 gal. spawning tank. I heard frozen foods are best? Is this true? If so, what kind of frozen food?

I have some fish experience, and I currently have two very happy Ryukin Goldfish in a 6 gallon Eclipse tank. I know what you're gonna say, that's too small for even one goldfish! But when I bought them, they were still pretty small, and they are growing, and I will be buying a 20 gallon tank for them soon. But then I became interested in Dwarf Puffers. I would put the Puffers into the 6 gallon Eclipse. What is the ideal tank for the DPs? I need to know everything. And I am aware of how touchy they are- and I'm willing to keep their tank perfect. I make sure everything's pretty much perfect in my goldfish tank, and they're still alive, so that must say something! Lol.

Right now, I have one female betta and I'm trying to find the right aquarium for her. I need something on the smaller side (no more than 6 gallons) and I'd prefer to buy an aquarium kit since I'm not very knowlegable yet.

I've looked at the Eclipse System 3 and also System 6 and I like both, but neither include a heater. I realize I could just buy one seperatly, but is it possible to put it in since they already include the hood, specifically for that tank?

Also, is the flow rate for each tank suitable for bettas (3 gallon=35 GPH and 6 gallon=75 GPH)? I know they don't like a lot of water movement. Eventually I think I will add a few more fish (depending on which size I get) but right now my concern is that it is good for my betta.

If you have any other suggestions I would love to hear them =)

I know it sounds crazy, but my betta fish is bloated in the chest and there are silver things all around his/her bowl. (I know I'm terrible and dont know if its a male or female!) ...It has always lived alone so there would be no chance of breeding. Do they just randomly lay eggs???

I looked after a friend's axolotl and it bred with mine (they were meant to be the same sex). The babies will hatch in about a week and I was wondering how I can feed them cheaply as I don't have much money. If there isn't a way to do this I will give the eggs to a breeder or pet shop so they have a good start to their lives. Does anyone know how I can feed the babies cheaply, but with something where they will grow strong and healthy with? I don't want them being unwell due to lack of quality in their food, so it needs to be something that's good for them too. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
