First the breeding question

You have female Betta splendens and that's the same speices as all of the halfmoons, delta & superdelta tails, crowntails etc that you see on the internet. They are all just different colors and tail types of the same fish. So yes, you can get a halfmoon to breed with, or you can use standard veiltailed fish from the pet store.

Brine shrimp eggs are common in most any pet store and will require you to hatch them before feeding the newly hatched brine shrimp to your fry. You can also order them from thousands of suppliers on the internet. THis is not the best first food for your baby bettas though, that would be microworms. You can get starter cultures of those all over the internet as well and they are very easy to raise. You need to feed the baby bettas microworms for the first week to 10 days and then slowly swap them to baby brine shrimp. They will eat the shrimp for about 8-12 weeks and after that you need to slowly introduce flake food to them. It will take feeding them both for a week or two until they recognise the flakes as food.

As faar as mosquitos go, you can collect mosquito larvae to feed to your adult bettas, it's an excellent food for them to have a few times a week and best of all it's free and easy to get.

particular, it incredibly is alright to place the female in with the male immediately. you have defined all the indications that she is waiting and able to spawn with the male. Now, she merely ought to be keen. Watch them the two intently for a minimum of a pair hours once you place them mutually. sometimes adult males bypass by using all the arrangements yet do merely no longer "get it." sometimes youthful adult males could could desire to start up and end a pair cases earlier they bypass "each of how." adult males who're no longer waiting, or experienced adequate, could kill the female. as quickly as, I had to bypass purchase yet another male for the female by way of fact the male I had did no longer desire to do something purchase beat her up. A sponge clear out ($5-6) is the excellent clear out for a betta (stated guess-tah, no longer bay-tah) breeding tank, it won't suck up any toddlers. regardless of if it incredibly is an previous sponge clear out, there will be microscopic nutrients throughout it for the youngsters (fry) to p.c.. at. First meals for bettas could desire to be very small, their mouths are too small for BBS. I actual have used infusoria and green water for mine. next time you breed them, have a sponge clear out working interior the tank for some weeks earlier commencing the technique of conditioning. Infusoria is made by skill of crumbling a leaf of lettuce right into a jar of tank water and letting it set for 5-6 days till it turns into cloudy. The cloudiness is 1000's of small critters that the betta fry can actual get into their mouths. green water isn't something extra advantageous than a jar of water that has been sitting interior the extreme sunlight for some days till the algae grows adequate to tutor it green. it is likewise solid for betta fry. Use a clean turkey baster to feed small quantities of the two infusoria and green water to the fry. 8
