I currently have a dragon goby (Gobioides broussonnetii) and would like to add a school of tetras to my tank. Something colorful like neons. I've read that Dragon gobies while having a large mouth actually have tiny throats because the mainly filter feed. Right now my goby lives at the bottom of the tank in a cave I got for him and only comes to the top to eat some flakes or bloodworms. Would they be able to live together okay?

I have a orange male guppy and 2 female guppies. I want to get a inexpensive fish that will compliment them, make my tank look better and won't harm them (of course!!). I keep the taem in between 70 and 80 degrees (farenheight). It's a ten gallon cause I have them in my room. I want a pretty one that can eat fish food and I am thinking about getting cherry shrimp. Wow. I never looked at my wants like this. I'm gonna need a bigger tank and a job.

Please be nice guys I'm only 10!!!

OK, I feed my mollies frozen brine shrimp every few days instead of flakes and freeze dried bloodworms. The brine shrimp are in little cubes. My fish like it, but it is so messy! Is their anyway to minimise the mess?

Does anyone know what chance my Betta has of surviving after jumping out of his tank. He is a repeat offender so I have a special lid that i usually keep on his bowl. However i was gone and left it in charge of my other half and he was unaware of the reason for the lid and the Betta took the chance. The last time he did it i was right there and was able to pick him up imediately and put him back in the bowl. This time however I was stunned to find his bowl empty at feeding time. I started the search as fast as i could and found him. He wasnt moving untill i touched him to pick him up. He seems to be snapping out of it, with occasions of swimming sideways and sinking to the bottom while using his fins vigoriously. What do you think?

when he does try to swim he has to jerk through the water on his side and he rests on top of the water on his back/side. He looks like he is dead, and I will see his eyes move and he will move elsewhere to rest. He cannot eat normally. I hate seeing him like this. Please tell me this is something I can do. I have tried raising H2O temp, adding salt, and cleaning more often.

Hi, I need some help with my fishtank. It is a 55 galon with mainly differant kinds of coldwater fish. My one goldfish became sick after being stressed by poor conditions. I fixed my water and removed an agressive fish but my goldfish kept getting worse until it finally died. After researching its symptoms on different fish care websites and books, I am almost certain that it had fish tuberculoses and probably had it when I bought it.

It has spread to atleast one other goldfish in the tank. It is still alive but just lays around. The water quality and temperature are fine for goldfish but I don't have much experience with diseases. I would really apreciate anyones knowlege on if there is anything I can do to prevent the other fish in the tank from also getting sick, if there is anything I can do to help my sick fish, and if any other fish could be infected but are not showing it

Please help!

I'll be replacing the gravel in my tropical tank with inert sand, as I understand it's easier to keep clean with the fish-poop resting on top of the sand bed rather than sinking and hiding between large gravel gaps.

But having never used sand before, what's the best typeto look out for? I already know to avoid coral sand due to its water-hardening properties. What colour do most people use? I want something that's natural-looking resembling tropical environments. A shop showed me silica sand, but that was too creamy in colour and unnatural looking, and that was the only colour he had. Does silica sand come in all colours, as I'm wondering if black sand, silver sand, etc, are all different forms of "silica sand"?

What I am getting at is if I change the water more often, will I have to do less cleaning? Presently, I do a complete cleaning every month but its pretty gross at that point. I have 5 fish, maybe 1.4 inches long each, in a 10 gallon. I bleach and rinse the plastic plants and rocks.

I have a Betta fish, a Speckled Catfish, and four Lamp-Eye Tetras all in a ten gallon tank. and I was just wondering if I could turn off the filter at night and if the fish would be fine. I'm not bothered by the sound it makes. which is just like running water. But I'm going to college soon and I plan on bringing the fish with me and I wanted to know if I could turn it off if it bothers my roommate

does anyone know if having more then 2 Dwarf Gouramis is bad in a 55 gallon tank?

someone told me that 3 is almost to many because they are territorial even if they are the Dwarfs making them less aggressive and less territorial!

i hear that having 2 male Dwarf Gouramis is the perfect number the 3rd might get stuck between the 2 and get picked on .. i have two males alread and want two more.. i love there colors and i have two more that i want but i cant stress out my fish and make them all crazy and agressive////

does anyone know whats ok and whats not with having a 55 gallon tank with 4 Dwarf Gouramis?

thanks for the help, i wont do it if i know they wont turn into aggressive fish and pick on one another!

there are plenty of places to hide and it a 4tf wide tank

let me know thanks

i have a 55 gallon fish tank...

4 weeks in now .. i put cycle in my tank to add some good bacteria and a great antibiotic to help keep diseases and fungi down but also to keep health high and fin growth strong..

i feel good about my fish because i know they are happy, you can see it by the way they swim and because they don't run scared when some one taps the glass!

i have 8 red platy's
and 2 dwarf Gouramis

i want 2 more dwarf gouramis is that a problem|?
that would be a total of 4 in one 55 gallon...

i know they are territorial, but dwarfs are not as territorial and not as aggressive, can anyone tell me from there experience if having four dwarf Gourmise will be a bad idea and how many can i have!

the health is obviously most important but also there stress level is a main concern..

please give me a heads up ... i am still learning ! NUBE

I have a baby Biorb with 2 goldfish just small pet shop ones for the kids. How much should I be feeding them and how often? I have managed to kill 3 so far and a friend told me I was probably overfeeding, I gave a pinch or so a day and she recommended feeding every other day. But they look so hungry all the time, they have a real feeding frenzy when I do feed them a couple of pinches. What would you recommend?
