I have a baby Biorb with 2 goldfish just small pet shop ones for the kids. How much should I be feeding them and how often? I have managed to kill 3 so far and a friend told me I was probably overfeeding, I gave a pinch or so a day and she recommended feeding every other day. But they look so hungry all the time, they have a real feeding frenzy when I do feed them a couple of pinches. What would you recommend?

you should just put 2 flakes in per fish and watch them eat, if they eat it all and a tiny drop more.
Remove what they have not eaten in 2 min

I've got a goldfish which has grown to 7 inches and it was tiny when I first got it! I feed it up to 3 times a day and he's thriving so I think you may be underfeeding if anything. I've read that you are supposed to feed them up to 3 times a day as much as they can eat in 5 minutes, but I've also read you should only feed once a day. It's difficult to say what you are doing wrong, it could be all kinds of issues. If I were you go to the library and get a book for more professional advice. I do think one pinch a day though is not enough. Try a couple of pinches twice a day.

You should feed them once or twice a day and only feed them what they can eat in about 2 minutes. It usually tells you on the tub of food how much to feed them but a pinch is ok for the 2 of them. Maybe the other three fish didn't die from being overfed - did you use water straight out the tap to fill the tank? You're supposed to let the water sit overnight so the chlorine can evaporate and the water rises to room temperature. Hope this helps!

You feed a goldfish 2-3 times a day once in the morning once at night

Goldfish ALWAYS look hungry, try not to feel bad, feeding once a day is fine as long as its just a small pinch. If your tank was new when you added the fish and you didn't mature it properly you are probably experiencing 'new tank syndrome'
I would get an ammonia and nitrite test done to check the water conditions.

That your fish are dying may have something to do with how much you feed them, but I can tell you most assuredly, that their deaths are far more likely attributable to the fact that they are terribly overcrowded in that tiny tank. Even the smallest goldfish needs a minimum of 10 gallons of water per fish. This is because goldfish produce more waste than any other kind of fish and that waste produces high levels of ammonia, which is toxic fish. Without all that additional space, the water is not capable of adequately processing the high levels of ammonia. As far as feeding, goldfish have no stomach. The food, literally, goes right through them. As such, you only need to feed goldfish once a day and only what they eat in five minutes. You must remove all uneaten food after this time so that it doesn't rot and foul the water, just adding to the toxic levels of the water. It doesn't matter how "hungry" they act. Goldfish will, literally, eat themselves to death. So, we don't need to help them in this process. Because of their internal organ structure and this ability to overeat, it is also suggested that you fast goldfish one day a week just to clear out their systems. So, please get a 20 gallon tank (and as your fish grow, you are going to need to get an even larger tank) with a filter that filters 10 times the water per hour as the size of the tank. So, if you have a 20 gallon tank, you need a 200 gph filter. Also, there is a cycling issue that concerns water quality and if you don't cycle your water, this also causes a deadly environment that can kill fish. So, there could be many reasons as to why your fish are dying, but if you get a larger tank, an excellent filter, learn about cycling your water, proper cleaning and tank maintenance, proper feeding and even diseases and how to identify them and treat them, I think you will find you will have much better luck with your fish. Good luck!

You probably are over feeding them. A rule of thumb told to me by so called fish experts is, a fish's stomach is about the size of their eyes. Using that as a guidline a flake or two every couple of days will be more than adequate. Should you be overly concerned about them having enough to eat, simply buy a plant now and again, they will nibble on them if they are hungry.

We feed our goldfish once a day, as much as they will eat in a couple of minutes. If you are overfeeding the water will often go cloudy. Goldfish are very greedy, ours go to the top of the tank every time we go near and would quite willingly eat themselves to death.

As much as they can eat in a couple of minutes. As for the the three fish which died I would imagine that they died for reasons other than overfeeding. If an infection gets amongst your fish it can easily kill them all off.

I have a fish and I feed him twice a day with like one-two pinches of food. For like 2 goldfish I would probably feed them two pinches also. Good luck!
