i have a 55 gallon fish tank...

4 weeks in now .. i put cycle in my tank to add some good bacteria and a great antibiotic to help keep diseases and fungi down but also to keep health high and fin growth strong..

i feel good about my fish because i know they are happy, you can see it by the way they swim and because they don't run scared when some one taps the glass!

i have 8 red platy's
and 2 dwarf Gouramis

i want 2 more dwarf gouramis is that a problem|?
that would be a total of 4 in one 55 gallon...

i know they are territorial, but dwarfs are not as territorial and not as aggressive, can anyone tell me from there experience if having four dwarf Gourmise will be a bad idea and how many can i have!

the health is obviously most important but also there stress level is a main concern..

please give me a heads up ... i am still learning ! NUBE

Your tank is a nice size and adding another gourami shouldn't be a problem. I would only add one at a time though. Gouramis are territorial and only get aggressive towards each other (fin nipping and chasing incessantly) when they are crowded.

If you can find some female Dwarfs, I think that would be perfect for you. You could add 3-4 females (most pet stores only sell males, but they will likely special order them for you). If you get the females (you have males, I already explained why), you would have a very good chance that they would breed, and you seem like you genuinely care about your fish, so you would probably be a good fish parent. For more info on breeding or Gouramis in general, shoot me an email.

Are the dwarfs you have male ? If so I know they're not as colourful but why don't you try adding females, then you'll have pairs.
Otherwise, I dont think you will have a problem dwarf gouramis are not that aggressive.

Bettas at the instant are not those evil, recommend fish everyone thinks they are, they are easily rather non violent and do properly in many community tanks and get alongside with an excellent variety of different non violent fish yet they are aggressive in the direction of different labyrinth fish (like gouramis and different bettas), gouramis are interior the comparable kinfolk as bettas (Osphronemidae) and bettas dont like them, its of their nature; on a part word, do away with that pleco, they get extensive and could desire to be in a minimum of a 75gal
