I got a goldfish for my birthday about 4 days ago. First couple days he was fine and swimming around and happy. Then today I noticed he was gasping at the surface of the water. I figured there wasn't enough oxygen in the water so I changed it out. (the water it came with and the water I put in came from two different sources). For a while the fix kinda floated around and I figured it was about dead but then it snapped out of it and swam around all happy again. Few hours later it started swimming really close to the rocks and eventually just died. Any idea why? It was in a little bowl with just rocks and tap water by the way, baby fish, dont know where the original water came from.

I want to buy a 90g saltwater tank and get rid of my two smaller tanks, but I rent my place so I'll have to move at some point... Just wondering if anyone had experience moving such a large saltwater tank.

I've had this male crowntail betta for about four months and within the past week he has made a bubble nest. This nest takes up pretty much the entire surface of his one gallon container so I figured he was ready to mate.

I went to the pet store and I bought a female betta (I KNOW she is a female, she has the short fins and is a dull blue) and put her in the tank in a jar so he could see her. He flared up and started dancing for her and she swam around excitedly so I let her in. They seemed to dance around one another but I don't think there was any actual mating.

I went to bed for the night and when I checked on them this morning, his fins are almost all chewed off and he's bleeding! I immediately removed her from his tank (he was there first after all) but I'm still afraid he'll die. I never actually saw them fight, but I know she hurt him.

What happened and how can I stop this from happening in the future? Any suggestions for helping my poor male betta live? I love him.

3 days ago I bought a 2 gallon aquaruim kit with an undergravel filter for my Betta (yes, NOW I know they are not the best, but I didn't know that when I bought it and don't have the money to upgrade right now) but there are many bubbles coming from the filter and they stay on the top and don't brake! there just a small "calm" space for the betta to go out and breath air... how can I make the bubbles stop? :(

I decided that I wanted a little more flow in my tank, so I purchased two rio powerheads and a wavemaker. (Nothing too fancy, just switches between the two powerheads at a given time interval.)

Part of my reasoning for more flow is that I would like to stir up the detritus a little so my canister filter would do a better job of filtering the junk out.

Do you still place the powerheads near the top of the tank or deeper so it stirs up more? I assume you place them at opposite ends of the aquarium, but should these be facing towards the front of the tank, or towards each other?

I try and take the best care of my fish possible. I have always belived in the "Every Fish Needs a Filter" rule because every fish needs clean water. So I'm setting up a Beta tank and I picked up a 3.5 gallon rectangular aquarium. When asking in my local fish store (Whose opinions I have always trusted and respected) about a suitable filter they said that I did'nt need one and that betas hated the water movement.
Is this true? I hope to maybe keep an African Dwarf Frog as well would they benifit from a filter as well?

OK, so my brother got some guppies, like 3 months ago...and he is really irresponsible...he has never cleaned the tank (i cleaned it)...he never cleans the filter (me again)....I bug him about taking care of it correctly so much that it annoyed my parents so much, so im not allowed to say a word about the tank, or take care of it

Well, one of the 4 catfish that live with the guppies got a diesease and died... I told him to clean it, and i asked my parents if i could clean it...and they said no

There is now 2 catfish left, and 3 guppies (out of 10)

He hasn't taken the dead fish out because he thinks the catfish will eat them....but if the catfish eats them they will die also

So, i know that they will all die soon because they are all very sick. Well....my question is

The guppies had some babies, and I took the babies out and they are living in a 1 gallon bowl right now...Well (continued)
