The hood has a perforated plastic piece that needs to be removed to install your filter. After you punch out this pre-cut space your filter will fit fine.

I believe the Top Fin Aquariums have some "perforations" in the hood that allow you to pop out sections on the hood for the filter and heater to poke through. More than likely the filter is an external filter...meaning the "black box" portion of the filter hangs outside and the plastic tube goes inside the tank...it is what pulls the water into the filter. The water then goes into the filter "black box" and pours back into the tank.
The heater goes into the tank....you will likely see a "water line" marker on the heater which means that the water will need to be above that line for the heater to work.
Obviously I don't have your tank in front of me but I am pretty sure that is the Top Fin standard setup...

Did you already punch out the areas on the hood that the filter and heater are supposed to go in? They will be on the back and have perforated areas like a semi circle and a rectangular shape. Once you get that done make sure you cycle your water for 24 hours. If your Betta is in a smallish bowl/tank/whatever you can take a small amount of water from that and add it to the new tank to help encourage friendly bacteria. Betta's are not as hardy as some and prefer tanks that are established and that do not fluctuate in temp too much. Good Luck!!

Start with this, and then worry about your hood. It was a great help for me too. Email me if you have any questions. Also, you may want to join the forum for live help and fish talk.
