Normally betta live to be 2-5 years old, but some live to be nearly 8 years old. Typically, males purchased from a pet store are 9-12 months old, at a point when their finnage becomes fullest and most attractive. Due to their shorter finnage, females available in pet stores are often only 3-6 months old. Male bettas living in laboratories with large individual tanks and daily exercise have lived 10 years or longer.

Betta's will live about a yr in the wild. Taken care of properly you could keep 'em at least 2 yrs. I had one that lived 2 and 1/2!! Keeping a stable environment is key.

Bettas kept at home usuallly live about 3-4 years, if kept in the right conditions.

In perfectly controlled laboratory environments, they can live up to more than 10 years.

Average is 2-3 years. But if you keep them REALLY healthy, you could have them for 5-8 years!

I don't know. We had one for about 2 yrs. I thought that was a pretty good span of time for a fish.

My MIL seems to replace hers all the time - she just keeps killing one after another and it doesn't seem to bother her.
