brackish moray eel?

Question

my brackish moray eel wont eat.
he is in a 50 gallon aquarium.
i tried to ffed him shrimp yesterday but he didnt eat
i tried to feed him just awhile ago and he didnt want to eat
i rubbed the shrimp against his nose and he allowed me to, but still didnt even open his mouth.
i got him yesterday
is he just nervouse?
will he eat evntually?

this is very normal dont rub the food in his face that is only causeing more stress to it. They can go 1-2 weeks before warming up to the tank and decide to take food. Make sure the eel has many tight fitting hiding spots and lots of plants(live or fake) to cause shady areas where it feels more safe. this will help it feel more comfortable and be more apt to take food.

What is the sg? what are your other reading such as pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? what size tank is it in?

Addition: yes they can go that long without eating but if they dont start taking food after in your system for a period of 1-2 weeks, 3 weeks tops. the likelyhood of them eating is very slim which in turn means they will perish very slowly.

Please read the following links, the most interesting thing i found on reading that, was that they can go without food for up to 3 months, and they may have never ever eaten in the petstore, so it's gonna take a lot of patience from you and skill on setting up the right home for your eel to start eating

hes gonna die in the next 5 hours...sorry...hope his life was good...brackish moray eels need to eat once every 2 hourse or else their immune systems break down...annd you knwo the rest
