Has anyone ever had any experiance with a cichlid breeding outside of its family not being the same i mean.For example i once heard someone bred a Convict A texas Cichlid,Is that Possible or was he making this up.??

I introduced a goldfish into my aquarium, with my existing betta fish. When they showed signs of fighting, I removed the betta, and put him in a fishbowl of water that had been treated about 30 minutes before. Within about 2 hours of being in the new bowl, he had almost completely lost the red coloring in his body, and a little bit in his tail and fins. I have since removed the goldfish, and replaced the betta in his original aquarium. He seems to be behaving fairly normally, swimming around, etc, but hasn't shown any improvement in his coloring. Will his color return? Is there anything I can do to help him recover? How long should I expect it to take?

My female has a dark black gravid spot,sometimes it turns redish then goes black again,she will sit still and flap her fins quickly,she was doing that for 10 minutes then stopped now she is swiiming around the tank,the male is always next to her,and the other female pokes at her stomach..Is she pregnant?

I have resently bought 3 fantail goldfish and a sucker. I put them in a 10 gallon tank, with a filter for that size, but it doesn't seam to be cleaning the tank. The fish also have been very unintergetic; should i get a larger filter?

OK heres the deal... I have about 14 guppies(including fry that r about a month old) but I also have 2 red eye tetras, a serpea tetra and a tiger barb(hes mean).I dont want ne of my tetras or barbs because I cant let my fry out of thier net cuz they will get ate(Ive tryed it..2 got ate i had 8..now have 6 fry)What do I do with these fish I dont want? I dont have an extra tank or anything or I would ahve put them in this..what do I do??

I have a single goldfish and a few baby snails. I want to take the tank down and replace the rocks and scrub the glass clean (it's been a while since it has had a really good cleaning). There are a few of those fake plastic plants and they have a black goo substance on them. I have tried scrubbing with hot water but it hasn't helped. I also have algea on the side of the glass. My question is this, what if any, cleaning agents can I use that will help with the gunk and goo but not harm the fish?

I have a filter and have changed the water twice a week for some time now. Still, the water does not change. The filter is brand new. I sucked up the water from the rocks with a gravel vaccuum a few times and it still doesn't help. I used the water conditioner, the algae remover and still nothing seems to work. What can I do?

i have 2 TINY tetras. Stripes and Shiney. Stripes eats the food until shiney can get it usually. I'm afraid of over feeding! The last thing I want is the water getting gross and them dying! HELP!!

hes in 1 gallon tank of water...i no he should be in at least 3 gallon but he likes it and hes swimming a lot and i have a few plants in there, and i put a mirror up to his tank occassioaly and he likes it.

Every time I turn the lights in the hood on my fish quickly swim behind a rock and stay there until I turn the light off.
Why is that?
Is it better not to turn the hood lights on at all? (I don't have any live plants, so this is not a problem)
Will the fish be harmed if I don't turn the lights on?

Ok I'm going to buy a new glass pot for my fish tomorrow so I left it in a flower pot for about 1 day and its not swimming above to eat or anything ..its staying at the bottom..not even its fins are moving...only moves when i like hit the pot or sumthin

okay im pretty sure that shes pregnant but its been so long and she still hasnt had babies shes in a breeding container that traps the babies, so i know shes not eating them, but what is taking her so long to have them? i know it takes up to 27 days but i think its been longer than that? why isnt she having them? theres no reason of her being stressed, everything in the tank is set perfectly and shes being fed... what can i do to fasten up the process, please give me some advice... ive never had a pregnant fish, so this is the first... is it possible she will never give birth to her babies?

i was thinking instead of deciding on what type of substrate,wheter gravel or sand,i was thinking about put a little bit of both.Any advice on wheter its a good idea or not.Also if how would you recommend cleaning the substrate?

I recently set up a new tank, and after putting in the live sand and salt water it's very cloudy. Much more than my previous tank.

Are there any tricks to getting it to clear up faster? Also should my filter be left on or off?
