i was wondering (without people being stupid) how long an oscar fish can live in a 20 gallon tank by itself. do oscars really need a huge tank all to themselfs. i dont think any fish that is small enough needs a huge enourmous tank. its only about 2 inches at the pet store.

molly has suddenly developed about 10 white dots on its skin, is this normal? Is it just stuff from the water that landed and stuck on him? Is it a skin disease? Is the fish sick? and if so how do I fix it?

How long does it take to acclimate a new fish to the temperature of a tank? How long do they have to float in their bags in the tank before I can let them in?

I am planning to take my fish on a trip (don't ask), and am going to put it in a medium size cup. How long would it be OK to leave the cover on at a time, if there aren't any holes? Please don't assume I'm killing a fish, this is an honest (if possibly stupid) question!

Ok well I have 6 guppy fry and I got a 2.5 gallon lil tank to put them in today. But I was wondering should I have put these 6 in the 2.5...or my tetras in my 10 gal with my other 5 guppies...I was wondering maybe if the babies would do better with the other guppies or by themselves? I had to move the babies somehow cuz I have a serpea and 2 red eyed tetras and one tiger barb and they ate the lil ones when I let them out of the net thingy.I put the 6 in the 2.5 but should I put them in the 10 gal and move the tropical fish in the 2.5 instead? Thanx!!

What kind of oscar fish or fishes do you have or have had, how big did they get, how big were their habitats(gallon wise) and what do you feed them.

This fish is about 10 inches from head to tip of tail, it has a red/white pattern, and a big lump on its head. I believe it is an Oranda Goldfish, but not too sure. what are your thoughts?

I have a mix of male and female fancy guppies and i want to start breeding them..i have 3 painted tetras (yes, i know that it's really cruel how they are dyed, bu my mother got them for me and didn't know about them at the time). should i remove the tetras from the tank w/ the guppies while the have the eggs and fry?? it's a 25 gal tank w/ good cover (ie: rocks, plants, breeding grass, etc.)....if i do i have a 2.5 gal tank i can put the tetras permantly if need be.
thanks~Katie♥

So I was having a problem with my fish dying everytime I did a water change. I boycotted cleaning my tank and have gone for 2 months now without cleaning, just topping the water off and have had no fatalities. I'm getting green algae and my snail isn't enough to clean it. What's a good algae eater that won't get too big? Does anyone else go this long without changing the water?

I have an Oscar that is about 6-7" long and he is in a 55 gallon tank. I went to purchase a Plecostomus today and the lady at the pet store said I should only be feeding the Oscar once a day. I have been feeding him two times a day like it says on the directions on the food. The only complaint I have is that there is a lot of algae on the tank that is the reason I went for the little sucker fish. So, how much does this guy need to eat and how often??

I just noticed some orange coming up on some of my live rock. i was reading about CLOD and was wondering if anyone may have more info on how to cure it or get rid of it. All my levels are right where they should be except my calcium dropped to about 350 where i normally keep it around 400-420. Thought this was normal though since i recently added a new decent sized brain coral so i just figured it was time to start dosing more calcium being that i have more corals. So if anyone has any good info or has ever gotten this any info would be greatly appreciated.

We have a new tank and have dechlorinated the water and added bacteria and plants. The temperature is 25 degrees and we have an electric filter, an airstone and a light. We added two guppies and 12 neon tetras. All were fine until the next day when the tetras were found lodged in plants, ornaments, gravel etc. Most were dead. The few that were left alive were listless and bobbing around the tank carried by the currents - only capable of twitching. Over the course of today the two guppies have sunk to the bottom of the tank, becoming listless. They are now lying on their sides and occasionally turning upside down. Can anyone suggest why this has happened and how can I prevent it from happrning again?
