My fish mates are 1 bala shark, 1 black mystery snail, 1 crab, and 2 tiger barbs. Does this seem ok? They say not to have just one barb, so I got two. Also, I don't need flaming for fish peeps who claim I am doing something wrong. It is a semi-agressive tropical tank and all fish fit this title.

OK I have a 29 Gallon tank with 8 small Comet fishes. When I first bought the tank, the fish filter started clogging and back flows within 2 weeks. I took it out and its full of BROWN NASTY stuff, so I tried to wash it off but it doesn't come off. A few days ago I went to buy some new filter nets, and I replaced it with that clogged one. NOW, 2 days later, ITS CLOGGED AGAIN!!! Full of that nasty brown stuff again...what is going on here...I'm going to go bankrupt soon...

I bought a gold fish yesterday. Seems completely healthy (although a little shy at first!) but I noticed he has like stringy faeces hanging out from time to time. Could he have dietry problems? Is there anything I'm advised to feed him to help?
Tank was established and all water tests have shown all is as it should be.

In every tank I've ever owned, I have always put at least one gold fish with a school of neons and I've never had any problems. However, I was just chided by Wal-mart's fish person for having them together in one tank. Is this really wrong and why? Please explain in detail. Also, will gold fish eat ghost shrimp? I've never had ghost shrimp and I just bought some thinking they would be safe from the gold fish. I've never had a gold fish that ate another fish in it's tank.

I have a 5 gallon tank and I am really worried about algea growth. I have to take a cloth and scrub every day just to keep it under control! I have heared of algea removel products but never used them and I'm wondering about how they work and how do I use them? The Algea I am getting is either in large patches or teeny pinpricks. It makes the take ugly and I just can't seem to get it off my gravel even with a gravel cleaner. I am also purchasing a live plant will that cause even worse algea growth? The tank is in semi sunlight and I use a lightbulb in thehood of the tank for heating so it is on 24/7.

I need some remedies to keep the snakes out of my pond that I had built, they are eating my fish. I heard put a rope around the edge because snakes dont like to crawl over it with their bellies, I heard trying mothballs, putting diesel fuel around the edge, but I dont want to try that because when it rains it will flow into the pond. I need help, these are cottonmouth snakes. I live in Branson Mo

I live in Camarillo (Ventura County) and I will be going to up to Sonoma with some family. It is about 6-7 hours away. My Tiger Oscar is about 3-4" and I'm currently feeding it twice a day with Hikari Cichlid Gold. This past Sunday, it munched on a Ghost Shrimp and a Feeder Goldfish. What can I feed my Tiger before I leave to ensure that it won't starve while I'm gone?

Thanks in advance.
