Salt can be an excellent cure for many types of fungus, but isn't as effective against some others. I would suggest you get Fungus Eliminator from Lungle Labs. Most Walmarts carry it as well as some other pet stores. Another good choice would be Maroxy from Mardel Labs. It's also common in local pet stores and large chain pet stores.

do you have a camera that you could take a pic of it? I only ask cause I know you're having trouble deciding if it's ich or a fungus. I guess it could be both. I learned my lesson the hard way too about buying fish at wal mart. I bought some neons and then everyone got ich. I think we'd be better off getting our fish from a fish store or at the very least a pet store that seems to care about their fish. I hope you can get it taken care of quickly without losing anymore fish.

I've heard from many different people that the Jungle Labs fungus medicine works really well. You might want to give that a try. Just follow the directions on the box. And remove your carbon filter before the treatment. Good luck!

If you have ID'ed this as a definite fungal infection than the use or MarOxy should take care of it. Make sure you turn off your carbon filter when medicating and quarentine the fish from any inverts you have such as snail crabs shrimp or whatever invert you keep. MarOxy has copper in it which is toxic to inverts and while you may be curing your fish you will be killing the inverts. Hope this helps and good luck.

It depends. What does it look like? Is it all over the body? Or on certain spots of the fish? Your best bet would to use Maroxy as well as Maracyn Two for secondary infections. Both of these can be used together. Fungus Eliminator is also good but please use the Maracyn Two with whatever you pick to help prevent secondary infections.
