My fish mates are 1 bala shark, 1 black mystery snail, 1 crab, and 2 tiger barbs. Does this seem ok? They say not to have just one barb, so I got two. Also, I don't need flaming for fish peeps who claim I am doing something wrong. It is a semi-agressive tropical tank and all fish fit this title.

soup dude, you are way off. My bala shark is in fact chasing the barbs and the barbs don't school with each other either and they don't hide in the corner, they go and swim around. The shark is not biting them at all. Thanks for every else.

I am going to "flame" you anyway. Bala Sharks aren't really semi-aggressive, they are extremely peaceful, need to be kept in groups, and get about a foot long. The Tiger Barbs are not in a group right now, they are in a pair. A group is a minimum of 3, preferably 5+. As a pair, the Barbs will likely go after the Bala Shark and cause it great stress. Also, since it sounds like you have a 10 gallon tank, you will be stunting your Bala's growth. Stunting is when the fish appears not to grow, but the internal organs continue to grow until they are so cramped that some organs fail. This is obviously fatal. You need to research your fish and their optimal needs before buying. Right now, I would focus on finding a new home for the Bala Shark.

This should be fine. The bala shark will go well with them, too. And they will get along with each other as long as they are not too big. Barbs can be aggressive fish. So if you do add any other fish, I'd stick with they "kind" you have, such as another bala shark, or a red-tail shark. You could even try an angel fish, large danio, or a gourami. Even if the tiger barbs are small, they can go with bigger fish. I work at a pet store specializing in fish, so I'm used to making different combinations of fish, haha.

I have two tiger barbs in my tank and they have been together for a year now with no problems.
Non of my fish are what they say compatible with each other but I bought them all fairly close together and they get along fish,,no fighting or anything,..

your tank sounds good to me, to lessen aggression you are suppose to keep at least 5 tiger barbs together

Hope that helps
Good luck
