got a 4ft tropical fish tank just went and snapped conectors for my halia external filter water every here etc not best pleased. it was a real pain to start with as after cleaning it out it would never start would get air locked etc and could be noisey too. So i have decided to invest in a new one. Dont need anything top of the range just something reliable easy to use. i notice alot of filters now have self priming so u dont have to syphon water into filter to get it started.my tank holds 29.63 gallons (uk) 134.69 litres. Thanks for any advice

I put 2 Zebra Danios inside my new 10 gallon tank yesterday; and even though it may be a little bit early, I am planning to add more fish after the tank is cycled. I have done some research on Zebra Danios on the internet, and most people suggest to keep at least 6 of them in the tank because they are schooling fish. So, do I need to put 6 Zebra Danios for them to school? Or can I have 2 Pearl Danios, 2 Zebra Danios, 2 Leopard Danios (or other Danios) to school together?

Another question I have is about the pH value of the water in my tank. I brought a water sample to Petco to have them test the pH before I bought the fish, and they said the pH of my water is about 6.5. Then when I came back home, and test the water with the "Master test kit" I just bought, I found the pH to be around 7.4. Therefore, I am kind of confuse right now, and I am not sure what I should do. Does anyone have any suggestion?

(Note: I tested using test tube and pH solution, while Petco test ed using pH paper)

I would like to get some tropical fish - my tank has been set up for a few weeks (fishless). HOWEVER I am going on holiday in a few weeks for a fortnight. Is there any way a few tropical fish could survive?? I do not want to buy an automatic feeder. Please could anyone suggest anything? Cheers

I have a tank in my wall which used to contain fresh water fish my tank is set up for salt water but I have no idea how to convert it to house salt water fish. Not even a clue how to prepare the water. Am I being unrealistic to think I can handle this and is there anyone that's knowledgeable about salt water fish and can help me or lead me in the right direction? I've gotten as far as setting up my decor and filling it up with water from my sink with my siphon. LOL! Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a 50 gallon with 3 guppies 2 mollies and some fry. I bought a young silver angelfish yesterday and asked the guy if it would be okay with full grown guppies; and I knew they would eat small fry. He said it would be fine with my fish and it really shouldn't mess with my fry. After bringing home my angel and reading up on him; it seems the guy at the fish store was wrong about everything. What r ur opinions and experiences? I really like the angel and want to get more; but not if it jeopardizes my exisiting fish. TY for the info.
