After successfully keeping a reef tank I thought I would do a FW for a change. I had a 29g community tank. I bought 2 small gold angels, 3 gold barbs and 3 zebra danios.
All was fine for a while and after a some loses (2 barbs and all the danios) Which I kinda expected.. they just don't last sometimes, I thought you know I really like neon tetras.. After buying 3 different "schools" of 5 and wondering what the heck "was going on I realized Stupid the Angel ate um! They were yelling "LUNCH!!" every time I put the neons in the tank!
My point? Well as another has already posted they are Cichlids and will eat what ever will fit in their mouths.. Neons.. Guppies about the same size..Even in such a big tank they will find them. The Angels will actively hunt the little fish when they realize they are in there.. may take them a while but they will! And they Will get HUGE in a 50! I think maybe you should move the smaller fish because planted 50 would be a nice size for the Angels
Unless you don't mind them eating your fry! I mean it is FREE FOOD! (mollies make great occasional live food for SW carnivores)
Just another reason to research before you buy! "Impulse" "buying" and "fish".. words that should never be used in the same sentence.

A 50 gallon is a pretty big tank, especially for the few small fish you have. Your pet store guy probably thought your tank was big enough to avoid a baby-eating incident and wanted to make a sale, or he just didn't know. Anyways, I know a lot of fish eat their babies, and guppies and angelfish are no exception. Even in a big tank, babies are not too cautious and can easily get eaten (I saw a mom eat a baby at a pet store today); if you have experience trying to catch babies in a net, you'll know that they are very easily scooped up by anything that comes from behind, or even from the front.
That means even without the angelfish, your babies are in danger by the adult guppies (female guppies will eat even bigger other guppies, like males). Now to really answer your question -- a 50 gallon tank is huge and your fry are unlikely to get eaten even if you get more angels, especially if you provide them with ample hiding room, little nooks and crannies, and plenty of food. I have a ten gallon tank with more fish than you; I introduced tiny babies and they are all still alive.

The Angels will go after Guppies of any size, and when it gets the chance, the adult Guppies and fry will both be gone. Return the Angelfish, pet store employees generally know very little about fish, it isn't a big concern to management.

I had a couple fancy guppies in my tank that were awesome... At the aquarium I went to, I seen bumble bee gobies... little devils... I asked him if they would pick at my guppies fins, he said, no no no, they are usually on the bottom they'll be fine together. so I said okay give me 3 of them. He gave me 4 instead... I wasn't complaining. These fish were also not even a quarter of an inch big.. But I woke up in the morning with one of my guppies missing his WHOLE FIN. These guys destroyed him. I ended up really reading up on them, they're carnivorous fish, and should NOT be kept with any fish that has an attractive tail fin, or bigger tail fin. You never said how many or which of your fish died or were eaten. I do like how angelfish look, but I'm chilling out with my cory's, guppies and white clouds.

no longer in basic terms do angel fish no longer go nicely with smaller fish, they do no longer even go nicely with different angelfish. they are very aggressive fish via nature. they are definately attacking the guppies. besides, while a million angelfish receives larger than the different and that they are going to, the better one will in all threat kill the smaller one.

Angelfish are territorially aggressive. While it is probably too small to eat a Guppy now, it will be soon enough. That being said, Angelfish are truly beautiful fish so consider keeping it and let the Guppies fend for themselves.

Angelfish are in the family of cichlids. The only fish you can combine with guppies are mollys, platys and tetra. So you cannot put angelfish with your guppies. Cichlids are very agressive but in the family of cichlids angelfish are one of the less agressive. Angelfish will only attack your guppies. Put your angelfish elsewhere.
