As long as it has no iodine, it's perfectly ok to use table salt. I personally prefer Kosher salt because it's very pure and it still quite cheap. I use Kosher salt exclusively in freshwater aquariums

Why would you.. to make it salt water... no because table salt is more pure then the natural ocean salt and will corrode away the tank and kill fish.

well whats in the tank? Don;t if it's freshwater fish.

No, it will kill your fish. Go to the fish store. The associates are always very helpful, like petco or someplace like that.
