I plan to put them in little bowls with my betta to clean the water and stuff..question is..do they need OC? and how many shrimps should i get per a bowl about this size:http://img372.imageshack.us/img372/3613/0723071914xn2.jpg

ghost shrimp don't 'clean the water'
that's what you're for.

a ghost shrimp will pick up uneaten food and delay the rotting of wastes but water changes are what keeps the water clean.

You could probably have 1-2 Shrimp in that bowl, but you still need to change the water every 3 days. Also, the Betta may try to eat the Shrimp in such a small space.

The ghost shrimp will eat the uneaten food on the bottom, but in return it will just create more waste. Nothing beats regular water changes and maintenance.

rule of thumb for ghost shrimp is one shrimp per half gallon
