Cotton? That would be fungal- not ick. Ick looks like the fish has been sprinkeld with salt. You may have both problems.
Wash the fish? Do you mean a salt bath?
I don;t recommend a salt bath witn ick. The salt kills some of the parasites on the fish But it removes there slime coat too. When you return them to the tank they are more susceptible to the parasites that remained in the tank water and gravel.
Try melafix and pimafix if you think you may have mis-diagnosed.

Don't wash the fish. You will kill them. What kind of medicine did you get. You can buy a good one that is a pill that you drop into the tank. It is like a penicillin or something. There are several different kinds. Read the package & buy the one that treats ick. If you do a water change make sure it is only a partial change. Never empty the whole tank. They need the bacteria in the old water.

What you may want to do is transfer your fish to a "hospital tank" for a while until the regular aquarium gets back in balance. Fill a clean, empty tank with water and add some of that dechlorinating stuff and let the water get to temperature. Then transfer the fish over and let them stay there for about a week. In the meantime, add an antifungal to the tank and see if it clears up the "cotton" on the leaves.

I would suggest a product from Jungle Laboritories called Ick Clear. It clears up ich problems in your aquarium and also protects against secondary infections. You can find it at the website below

I wouldn't suggest washing your fish. That would probably stress them out a little too much. Just watch the ick, it should clear up pretty quickly.

The best way to treat ick is CopperSafe. It is the only product that I needed to use to treat ick in my tank. Whatever you do, DO NOT use Jungle Labs products.

I don't know at all, really, but I think you really need to get your fish to the vet. If all that is really happening, then what are you doing asking this question on yahoo answers? You need to see a vet NOW!
Hope I helped!
