I really need some more details on this one. How big are the white spots? size of sand or salt or are they larger? Do they appear to be larger than the scales? Are they on each and every scale in a certain area of the fish or more scattered about?

If there is any way you can include a link to a photo of the fish and the affected area, that would really help a lot.

I think it might be whit spot which is caused by a parasite disease. You can get some stuff for it but i cant remember what its called. Ive not had any pet fish for about 2 years now.

its white spot. a common disease. go to your local pet shop and ask them for treatment, its about AU$7

its probably ick or parisites. u can by some med for it at ur local pet store

wow. i'd say ick. you can get it at most stores but id take it to your local petstore. they always know what to do.
