my goldfish are changing color. i guess they are fancy goldfish because one of them (the one thats changing color) was gold with a black stripe down his back, on his fin, and above his mouth. over the last few days i noticed they are disapearing. is that normal? i've also noticed that my other goldfish is starting to become more agressive, hes about 5inches long and 3inches in height, but i dont understand why the sudden change. My last fish has become somewhat lazy. I've noticed they all stay near the top of the tank now kinda as if they are trying 2 "breathe" whats wrong with them??

I was just cleaning out my skimmer filter today and I noticed what looked to be some sort of shell caught in the course media. It looked like a snail shell. So what could be in my pond? I live just outside montreal in canada. On further inspection, i found more than 20 on my filter. any ideas?

I am trying to figure out if my pond has baby koi or baby goldfish. The koi in my pond are about 3-4 years old but i have been unable to sex them. I only have 2 koi in my pond so the chances that one is male and the other female is somewhat slim. The goldfish in my pond are only a few months old. I bought them in the late spring and I don't know if they are even capable of breeding at the moment.
Any ideas???

The baby fish come in a veriety of colors. Some are solid silver, others have orange, some have spots, etc.

After cleaning my tank last week, my filter broke. I bought a new one (same brand & size), but the old biowheel is too small. (I've tried a lot of things to make it work, but no such luck.)

Now I have to replace it. The tank is three years old. For now I've just let the old biowheel float in the tank.

What should I do?

I Want To Set Up Like A 10 Or 20 Gallon Fish Tank In My Bathroom, On My Sink Cabinet, For Just A Few Fish And Some Bottom Eaters/Dwellers. I Want To Know If You Can Purchase A Cordless Filter And A Cordless Heater, Since I Might Be Afraid To Have The Cords Near The Water. Does This Such A Thing Exsist And Where Would I Buy It????? I've Heard Of Tablets You Can Buy And Put In For Oxygen And (?Carbonation? I Know That's Not The Word, But You Know), But I Don't Think That Is Safe, Have You Heard Otherwise? Can You Buy Those Under The Tank Heaters Without A Cord???

i have a electric yellow cichlid and a firemouth cichlid and they keep rubbing agaist each other what arew they doing they will do it for about 10 seconds then the will go to the other sides of the tank and leave each other alone for about a hour then they will do it again

I have other fish living in the tank so I don't think it would be safe for them to swim around. They are tiny and I would think they would make a tasy snack for one of my goldfish. But I dont know what to do! Someone help!

ive had goldfish for a while now and
im trying to raise beautiful fish so i can later on breed them
but one fish that i had for a about 6 months
had beauty potential in the begining with a veiltail
but later on showed deformation on the tail
and now the tail hangs low and just droups
unlike other veiltails i have what should i do with it
i tryed to find someone who would take it but there arent any
and i feel bad to perposely kill it just cuase its ugly
waht can i do ?

recently my goldfish has developed a white blotch next to his eye, the next morning he had an even bigger blotch and it has skin coming away from it. the surrounding area of the blotch is purple.... he has been hit by another fish when i first got him.

I had a puffer die l;ast night because he was found stuck to the intake of the powerhead. Sad as it is, I was very careful to wear gloves to remove him because his skin was broken and he was puffed out. I still somehow got a little water on my hand and right on an open wound, very small wound though. Now i'm panicking, I washed it 3 times with anti-bac soap but I'm scared I will be poisoned. I read you can only get poisoned if you eat it but I need comfort to know i'll be okay. Please give me facts and don't be an a**hole and tell me to panic just to be a jerk. This is a serious question

I am not sure what to do for it. I dont want to put my fish in harm by making them live in a cloudy tank. I just took out some water and cleaned the tank. But it still hasnt gotten better. If anyone had this type of problem and found a way to make the water clear again let me know. Thanks!

I have several barbs, 4 silver dollars, and 1 angelfish. One angel fish just died and the pet store told me I needed to raise the level of my ph because it was to acidic but the other fish are doing fine. So I have been putting a liquid ph in there drop by drop for fear that I may shock my fish. But the ph is not changing. So I put 1 tsp. in there and am sitting back just watching now. Also they said that the nitrite or nitrate was too high so I needed to add more water cause my water had dehydrated somewhat and I did that before I added the ph and then I added some not alot of aquarium salt and some stress coat also. Please help me. I love my fish

Its a 20 gallon aquarium. Tell me which of these combinations would work out in my tank. Here are my options...

1. 6 neons/ 2 platies/ 3 ottos
2. 6 neons/3 glass catfish/ 3 ottos
3. 6 neons/3 ottos/ 1 female betta
4. 6 neons/ 3 ottos/2 mollies

I'm not too sure about numbers 2 and 4. I won't be able to put salt into the water for the mollies. Should I risk it? Would the platies bully my neons? My neons are shy anyway.I know glass catfish like schools. Is three enough?

well he got out of the tank last night i'm guessing and spent the night in the dining room i put his back in this morning he seems sick will he make it back to good health or is he a gonner. I've had him about a year and he never got out I don't know what got in to him

I want my tank to be nearly ammonia and nitrate free. I want it to look alittle clearer but not too cloudy. I want it to be able to pick out waste, leftover food, or poop when I move my hand around the water effectivly.(DOn't Post Other Filters unless it's similar to these two filters)

my guppys fin (not her tail) is a lot smaller than the other one and she cant swim. she lies at the bottom of the tank. i guess another fish may have bitten it off because she used to swim fine. i have been picking her up and hand feeding her but will it ever regrow?
