What cichlids are compatable with neons and ottos in a 20 gallon! I wanted rams but the petstores near where I live don't have them (petsmart and petco). Is there a more popular species ( no gouramis) that I can keep just one or two of in a tank full of little fish??? Also, there is an algae of some sort in the tank. It is against the glass, it is green, and it is tiny dots, not bunched together. My ottos don't eat it. Scrubbing it off...it is to tough my arms hurt when Im done. What could it be? How could I kill it?

Ok, I have 5 gallon salt water (I know small.. But my dad with money and pets.. DOn't mix), 2 small fishies.. (started with a T and they described it as small and beautiful fish), 1 starfish, 2 emerald crabs and some small snails. 2 Lbs of Live Rock and 5 lbs of Live Sand AragAlive! The filter is Whisper with a little bio filter bag stuffed in it. The people at the store told me to do it... o_o The Bio filter bag had little cylinder chaped what seems to have the texture of chalk. o_o.. Is it Over crowding? Do Invertebrates need alot of room? Is it too much.. Tell me what you think.. And sorry about the not definite about the fish and stuff. I like fish but I don't know nothing about them xD

okay, so somehow these strange molluscs got into my tank. They are tiny (not even 1/2 centimeter tall), freshwater molluscs, they have cone-shaped shells that look sort of soft, 2 antennae, they can move around (up and down walls too) at a speed of maybe 1 centimeter every 10-15 seconds. Can anyone tell me what these things are because they're multiplying like mad and I don't even know how they got there?!?
thanks!

I went in a fish store today just to look around and I saw a Dory fish (the blue one in Finding Nemo). It was the most beautiful fish I think I have ever seen in my life and I just fell in love with it. What is it called?

Also, I may want to purchase one (a long time from now). I have heard saltwater aquariums are a pain in the butt. Is this true? How much work and money is involved? This fish was so gorgeous and I would like to own one someday.

Ok the aquarium i want to start will probably be in about a 15 gallon tank i think, maybe 20 ( later i would like to add fish ). what i want to put in it is about 6 neon tetras and 2 ghost shrimp. i kind of think it might be a little boring and needs a little more colorful fish, so any suggestion? i want just 1 fish that will do ok being the only species here of its kind and has alot of color. so how does the aquarium sound so far? also anyone with past or present experiences with these fish any specific decorations you noticed they like? ty :)

how much live rock do i need to have enough coraline algae to keep asmall sea urchin alive? there like 3 inches at my fish store. and how do i know if i have coraline algae?
i have 7lbs right now all live, in my ten gallin with 20lbs live sand, two baby clownfish, and 4 tiny hermit crabs for cleaenup.
all of my live rock is turning different colors, and my glass is getting dirty. is this the algae that i need for a sea urchin?

im not adding anything after the urchin except for a few more crabs and maybe some more live rock if needed.
my water parameters are actually pretty good when i get them tested.

also, should i get a powerhead for more oxygen? i know that my clowfish are very poor swimmers. my filter is a aquatech 5-15.

thanks alot

I have a male crowntail Betta. That I put in a 4 gallon tank beacuse I thought as soon as I saved my money I would buy a heater. So I could put small tropical fish into the tank. So I put him in the tank with no fish in it but I got to looking in to things about Betta fish and found out that they need to stay in extra small contrianer because they would get more air. I dont get this because I would think if you had put a Betta fish in a 4 gallon tank like I did they would be happier. What do you think? I also know that Betta Fish are frighting fish but I read and have seem betta fish getting along fine with tropical fish. Thank you for your time. Oh and just so you know the tank that I have is a baby biorb if that is any help! Thank you sooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are the major differences, such as the characteristics, personality, care level, water chem, color, etc? Which is more difficult to care for? Which one do you prefer personally?
and if you can give any information at all about them, it would be appreciated! :]

Does anyone know any fishes are nice to keep either feed at the top and the middle

The fishes should be non-agressive, or semi-agressive.

They should be compatiblie to Angelfishes, Clown Loaches, Pictus Catfish, and Rainbow Shark.

I got way too many bottom feeders, like around 7.

I have a betta that has fin rot. This morning I completley cleaned my tank including 100% water change and I scrubed all of my rocks and decorations. I went to the pet store and bought API TC Tetracycline Anti-Bacterial Fish Medicine. The directions said "For best results REMOVE ACTIVATED CARBON O FILTER CARTRIDGE FROM FILTER AND CONTINUE AERATION. Empty one packet directly into aquarium. Repeat dose after 24 hours. Wait another 24 hours then change 25% of the aquarium water. Repeat this treatment for a second time for a total of 4 doses. Then make the final 25% water change and add fresh activated carbon or replace filter cartridge. " I removed the filter and carbon as the directions said now 2 hours later the top of the water is all bubbley. Is it ok for me to leave my filters out for 4 DAYS? Should I put my filter back in? HELP!!
