The belly of the pregnant female will start to flatten out when she getting close. The other young female is not seasoned yet, so to speak, so the experienced female is getting all the attention. It won't be long and the male will notice the young female swordtail also.

The younger one stays at the top of the tank because the breeding pair pushed it out of the group. Try getting the younger one a little boyfriend. How big is your tank? I hope it is at least 10 gallons, if not, you are overcrowding. If you have a 10+ gallon tank, add 3 more Swordtails. Try and finish with 3 males and 3 females. Good luck with the babies!

He might be going for the older one because she's had fries before. The younger one may not be as fertile as the older one and therefore, not as attractive to your male. Place a bright light on one side of the tank and look at the older female, if there are black spots moving about inside of her, then she's pregnant and about ready to give birth. Isolate her in a breeder container so you don't have to worry about watching for the babies so they don't get eaten. You can also buy breeder grass that the babies will hide in to keep from getting eaten. Its not as effective as keeping them separate in a breeder container, but more effective than letting them fend for themselves.

It became right into a undesirable thought to characteristic yet another male to the mixture, maximum suitable thank you to restoration the subject is to take the recent one back to the puppy keep and get 2 or 3 women.2 male swordtails will continuously finally end up battling, even only 1 woman further to the tank would get too plenty punishment, from one male.Get a competent e book approximately fish and be taught it in the past you place money into some thing that purely won't paintings. solid success. She will get a large belly on here. Place a lot of plants in the tank so the babies have a place to hide.
