if the mom fish has parasites and then gives birth, then do the fry have parasites as well? and are parasites contagious?

It depends on the parasties to some extent as some are transmitted more easily than others, but if the mom has parasites then you can expect the fry to as well in very short order.

I think this is definetly a good question, in my opinion because disease and illnesses are not my specialty at all, and when things like this come up, I like to look at the answers to learn myself. I think you're asking can parasites be passed on, and I wouldn't think they just inherit parasites, but would probably contract it when born. I also think it depends on which particular type of infestation you're talking about as well. I am no expert by far, and will pass this q on to the two best I know, magicman and copperhead. They have extensive education in these things.

i would believe so
like in most tanks
most illnesses are contagious not from birth but from being in the same tank as the infected
as for the fry depending on the size medication could be fatale
i would say quarintine the mother if you have already not done so and try to find fry medication or a nice soft medication
