i have a electric yellow cichlid and a firemouth cichlid and they keep rubbing agaist each other what arew they doing they will do it for about 10 seconds then the will go to the other sides of the tank and leave each other alone for about a hour then they will do it again

there not circling they are just rubbing up agqaist each other like rubbing your hands together

When you say rub up against each other, are they circling each other? I think what you have going on here is establishment of who is dominant in your tank. As with your questions in the past about what to keep and compatibility, you're probably beginning to see levels of aggression begin to rise up. Granted those electrical yellow's are more subdueded then other cichilds, given the right enviroment and tanks, this may be a case where the cichild in him is comming out is all. Just keep an eye on them to see if it escalates.

I have two electric lab cichlids to. They dont do that though. I have other cichlids that circle. Maybe yours dont know what a circle looks like, lol.

That's just weird,I've been keeping fish for a lot of years and I never saw that. I'll bet it's some sort of threat behavior,and shouldn't cause a problem.

It is likely a display of power, they are each competing for tank space and they are "fighting" for it. You lucky they aren't really fighting!
