Just take it to a local pet shop and give it away. Tell them you can't keep it and they should take it off your hands.

If that doesn't work take it to the animal shelter in your area or the ASPCA.

Do you know what caused the tail to change? If there was a physical injury (hurt by another fish, caught in the filter, broken rays from hitting another object in the tank), this doesn't change the getetics of your fish - in other words, the babies won't inherit a damaged tail.

If the fish is clamping the fins close to the body, this can be due to poor water quality, bullying by other fish, or parasites - again, none of these would be inherited.

You may need to look at what's causing the problem and work on correcting that, rather than getting rid of a fish that you (at least at one time) though had good potential. Otherwise, the same may happen to the other fish as well.

Hi, if you have no luck with your local pet sore why not advertise the fish on your local Freecycle group or Craig's List? Someone would love to give it a good home!

Some pet stores will accept fish; call around. Chain stores usually won't, but see if you can find any locally owned stores.
