I have a 20 gallon commuity tank should I put some live plants in it and which kinds is it good or bad for the water clearity?

You should always get plants if you have the option. It provides the fish with a hiding spot and security. Try Java Moss and experiment with placement. Tie some to your filter spill out, tie some to your heater, tie some to rocks or driftwood. Java Moss has so many options. Good luck!

you want to get plants that match your lighting and your fish. some fish love to eat some plants.

no plant is particularly good or bad for water clarity unless you attempt to grow a plant that requires conditions you can't provide. also avoid the plants that are really bog plants that they sell in petshops. if you have seen it in a pot in the garden department at lowes its not going to grow underwater. know what you are buying!
