I have other fish living in the tank so I don't think it would be safe for them to swim around. They are tiny and I would think they would make a tasy snack for one of my goldfish. But I dont know what to do! Someone help!

How long should they stay in a breeding net?

Probably will get eaten yes. Most of all of them unless there is a place for them to take cover. Most fish will consider them a food source if they can get them in thier mouth, even the mother. You need a small tank to rear the fry, or a way to enclose them so the other fish cannot get to them. Also for food, crushed flakes or infusia until they get bigger will be a big help.

If you don't have another tank where you could isolate them in, they do have enclosed containment fields that will stay inside of the tank you could get, but if you want the fry to survive, you'll need to protect them.

Until they are big enough they wont fit in that gold fish's mouth. If you would like to go with the breeding net as Kity was mentioning, keep in mind you'll have to do some maintence on that net from time to time. Excess food not eaten by the fry will stick to parts of the net. A containment tank made to fit inside your main tank would do the same as well. If you have a seperate tank that would be the best situation.

What is a goldfish doing with your mollies?

I would just put live plants in your tank for your fry to hide, or get another tank just for the fry or
get the plastic 3way breeder to put your fry in (I don't recommend the netbreeder because the fry gets easily caught in between the net and the sticks)

You're suppose to keep them in a breeder until they are big enough that they don't fit in the biggest fish mouth you have in your tank

Hope that helped

Good luck

You can put them in a breeder net or a different tank if you have it. You can also leave them in the tank if you put in a lot of floating plants with lots of leaves for them to hide.

And. . . a goldfish. . .with mollies? It'll be a while before the babies are big enough to not be eaten by a goldfish.

get a breeding net and keep them in there until they are big enough that they wont fit into any of the other fishes mouths and for the time being before you get the breeding net put them into a small bowl for them to stay in until then
