It's laying on the bottom of the fish tank. Looks to be breathing okay.....When I approached her with the fish net, s/he swam away pretty quickly. But, s/he keeps sinking to the bottom....

How do they act when they are about to lay eggs? Not sure if it's a female or not, but just wondering...

Also, how do YOU prounounc gourami? I say gore-a-me (short a). Is that correct? TIA

I have a 3 year old goldfish thats swimming with his head down and he has a lump behind his gill only on one side, on that lump his scales are standing up. I looked up dropsy and that doesn't look like what he has, i also looked up swim bladder for the fact that he's swimming head down but that doesn't explain the lump on the one side. I just recently had a goldfish die but his entire body was swollen to the point he was having a hard time swimming, we never figured out what was wrong with him.

I have a young Leopard Sail fin Pleco. I've had him about 3 weeks now and he's been fine, until this afternoon.

For the last few hours now he's 'avoided' the bottom of the tank, he's just swimming mid to top of the tank, sometimes diving to the top as if feeding, sometimes he's just hovering, nose down.....
Also he's normally 'stuck' to something (decoration, side of the tank) sucking away, but he hasn't done that for the last few hours either.

Whats he up to?????

I have a 180 litre tank with good oxygenation. I have and 3 other bottom feeders, 2 small Clown Loaches and a Long Nosed Elephant Fish.....

All other fish are healthy/happy, acting their usual.

Ok i have 4goldfish in a tank with a pump and filter. One of them snaps the others but they usually swim away fast enough. One of my fish now look sick. His tail looks like it is hair. Almost like it is ripped VERY thin, impossible for the other snappy one to cause. The fish with the thin tail also looks sick.. like it cant breath, and none of its fins stand up. He also doesnt swim much anymore. Plz help? =(

I have a 20 Gal Tank, I put alot more fish than I was supposed to so I'm looking to upgrade to a larger tank, anyone looking to get rid of an aquarium?

Im not looking to buy unless the price is too good to pass up, if it is leaking, I would like it too! Don't have the funds to buy one but soon I will, I'm particularly interested in a 55Gal or more, so if you have one that you want to get rid of and can't get anyone to pick it up, let me know, if it is leaking, I will take it too, but not cracked!

Thank you.

Goldfish sits on the bottom of the tank?
I have 2 beautiful goldfish that are 5 years old. One is lying on the bottom of the tank the other sitting on the bottom. Niether is eating. They seem to have a gray skin like substance pealing off them. Sometimes they are over an inch long. If you move the fish with the net, the skin like substance just floats away. I've tried ich medication, but it just seemed to make more of the skin like stuff float off them. They seem to be breathing very rapidly. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks Eileen

My one fantail has begun swimming upside down for part of the time, with a belly that's very
bloated. I've tried the pea story since I thought the housesitter from us going away for a few days had probably overfed him, but the fish won't even touch it. I can't get Epson salts until tomorrow morning. I've split him from the rest of the fish into a quarantine tank, but am clueless as to what else to try? Have checked the water, pH is fine, all levels are right, has all the right goodies in it for chlorine etc, but what else could this be and what can I do to save this fish?

I have had a 30 gallon freshwater tank for a year and a half. It gets algae on the glass and every other surface very quickly (fairly covered in just a week). The tank is not in direct sunlight and I do a small water change ever week. The light is just a standard bulb that came with the tank, any thoughts?

I have a 30 gallon aquarium w/ 3 large fancy goldfish.
My airpump is producing a very thick foam at the top of the water. It's never done this before. I'm worried the goldfish will swallow too much air when eating. Any solutions?

I swapped out my pristella tetras for a group of 7 Congo Tetras. They're all a little over 2 inches. The tank has been stable for 7 months now, and I have a 2nd fish about to kill over in a week.

A day after introducing them to the tank, one of them has lost control of his ability to swim. he's upside down, vertical, all over the palce. He looks like he has some energy, but he don't look so hot. Its like his body is a weight & his head is the only buoyant part of his body.

Is there anything I can do fix him? What's the correct medicine to buy?

I've had my goldfish for about 5 months, and these past few days it hasn't been eating, it's also just staying at the bottom of the tank and not swimming around much. I purchased a pH test kit to test the water.. It doesn't seem to be a problem. I noticed quite a few bubbles on the top of the water today.

Please help!

Hi everyone, my baby is staying at the surface in a corner constantly. When he goes to the bottom of his tank he quickly comes up for a breath.

I lowered his water level so that he can rest on his house and reach the surface.

It appears his right gill opens more than the left, he's burping bubbles quite a bit as well.

Does this sound like Gill Disease to any of you? If so, what can I treat him with? I have Tetracycline, Maracyn 1 & 2, and Triple Sulfa in my fish medicine cabinet.

Please help!

Thanks in advance.
